Great jobs on the improvements of the website. Everyday there is a new improve ment. I like the idea to subscribe to a digest but is the site under construction or is my browser on the fritz? When I go to sub scribe, it does not offer me the chance to check off which digest I want. It gives the text talking about it then goes straight to email address and submit. Is it me, the browser or the site?

You were just messing around when I was trying out some other features including the subscribe feature. I looked at it, but didn't think it would a value for most people.

Heck John, by the time the digest would make it to my e-mail inbox, I would have already read it here! After all, the speed at which the digest can get here is limited to, at best, the speed of light.

Sidd, nothing "super" here... it's just that since I'm already logged onto the Forums, I'll always beat the message here, no matter how hard those little electrons try! However, if you insist, SuperArt does have a nice ring to it. ------------------ -SuperArtp.s.: John, did you revoke my Cruise Director merit badge? Yes, the Lighthouse Digest magazine, put out by Lighthouse Depot,in Wells,Me, has some very interesting articles. The calendar is especially valuable in listing lighthouse cruises, tours, festivals all over the U.S. If you are interested in this magazine, would you please consider subscribing to it through our New England Harbour Lights Club. Tim Harrison, the owner and editor, has made our club an offer to help us establish our club's preservation fund, which will be donated to various lighthouse restoration projects here in New England. For every subscription which is sold by our club, we will receive $l0 for our fund. She then will forward your check and subscription request on to the Lighthouse Depot under our club agreement, so insure that we will receive the rebate for our preservation fund.
It is great to see HL members helping out other HL clubs in raising funds to preserve these beautiful lighthouses, wherever they may be in our country. Thank you for your help. Barbara Hupp, Chairperson New England Harbour Lights Club 4/99

Just a further word on subscribing to the Lighthouse Digest through our club's fundraiser arrangment. In talking to the Lighthouse Digest people today, they clarified that our club would not get a $10 rebate if it was a renewal of an existing subscription. BUT if it is a NEW subscription for you, then yes, we will get the $10. You would need to send the subscription renewal to our club secretary also. Please refer to the details in my original message in this column. Thank you. Ladylighthkeeper

I an confused about the 'subscribe to a digest' selection on the forum pages. According to this thread this was something St. John was trying way back when, yet the message is still around and has no information attached to it. Is the 'digest' coming back or is the subscribe message just always going to be around? I am just trying to ask one of those troublesome questions.

Once you set up the forum with the "Subscribe" option ON, you apparently can't turn it OFF. The function does not work because it is off. The problem is, would you rather read the forums in an organized fashion or have your email box stuffed with dozens of emails each day?

John - Thanks for responding. I agree that it is easier to read the forums than to try to sort out HL e-mails from the junk(spam) e-mails.
I was just trying out all the different buttons on the menus. It was a quiet night the other night.
