Guess that subject line says it all. We welcome all visitors - you don't need to be registered here to participate in the chats. Chat starts at 9 PM ET and usually lasts 1 to 1.5 hours.

Kind of like a party-line (but maybe you're too young to remember those!)

Thanks to Paul Brady, "HOSTpaul" who stepped in for me at the beginning, we have a log of a very fun and special chat from March 1.

Kim Andrews joined in for a while and managed to tease us with a few bits of information including news about what event pieces (plural) would be available for 2000.

She (with Paul's help) even showed a photo of one referred to as "Bill's Beckoning Beacons". But she did say - only for those in the chat, not for display on the web site -- yet.

You can read it here: www.harbourlights.com/chatlogs/mar_1_00.htm

Next time, join us.

(Perhaps a few words about reading one of these chatlogs. To the non-chatter, it looks like anarchy in the highest form. Nothing seems to follow any pattern. But you'll soon get the hang of it. There are usually several 'threads' of conversations back and forth going on at one time. A question from participant A get's answered by B then C throws in another questions and D answers A's question in another way. And so it goes. It helps when people say in their answer who to whom they are responding. But it doesn't always happen. Anyway, read a few and you'll get used to it.)

Thanks, John for the information concerning the "Chat". Last night was the first time "on" for me and all I wanted to do was sit back and "monitor" the dialog. 'Found it interesting and informative even though it was a bit confusing at times. Does Kim usually make it to the chat? Has BY ever been in the chat room? Anyone else from HL? ...B

That was Kim's second time at a chat. She worked from home with hubby Blair helping.

Mo - Maureen Atwell, Kim's right hand person, drops by every few chats.

Bill - has been to one unscheduled chat that was set up at the last hour when Paul wrangled the Harbour Lights meister to his home to view 'The Collection' and participate in a chat. You'll find a log in among those listed on the Log Index:

Thanks John for the link to the 3/1 chat. It is the first log I've read. You are right I found it very confusing. Just like too many people in a room all trying to talk at once.

Was able to follow event pieces two or more but no picture. What was everyone looking at?

Also why were people off and on in short periods of time?

Donna

Donna,
You have to be an active participant to stay in the chat room. This can be as simple as typing a "." every couple of minutes. Sometimes a person might leave the computer for a few minutes (retrieve some libation, scream at the kids, whatever) and the chat room thinks they are no longer active so it drops them. They sign back on as soon as they return. Sometimes, one might simply goof and hit the disconnect by accident.

The Host of the chat has the ability to point to an Internet URL of a page or a picture and force everyone's browser to view that page or picture. We call it 'Make 'em Cruise'. Some say it's scary.

What everyone (in the chat) was looking at was a photo of the two Beckoning Beacons.
