About 9 months in development, Harbour Lights will soon introduce a dealer-driven Retired@Retail service.

With this service, dealers maintain a database of which retired Harbour Lights they have in stock.

Collectors can search for specific Harbour Lights and, if it is available on the database, receive the name, address and phone number of a dealer with that item.

You can search by name, partial name or product number. You can search for several items at one time.

However, you should only search for products you are actually prepared to buy now. Once you receive a location for the item(s) for which you searched, you click on a "Buy This Item" button.

Clicking on this button:

[*] Asks for your name and email address

[*] Removes the item from the database

[*] Emails the dealer with the piece name, your name and email address

You should then contact the dealer within 24 hours to complete the sale. All items are to be sold at Suggested Retail Price (SRP). Shipping costs are up to the dealer and you to negotiate.

If you don't complete the sale, the dealer has to re-enter the item in the database.

Only Harbour Lights items that are retired can be entered in the database by dealers. Don't expect to find a Coquille River or Cape Hatteras 1, but you may find a Hillsboro, Panama Set, or 5th Order Fresnel.

As with the collector-operated Retired@Retail service, please use this service to expand your collection, not to purchase items for resale.

For people new to the Collector Forums in the past year or so, Retired@Retail was a program started when the Collector Forums got going and Sean Thompson undertook the task of coordinating leads from collectors (who searched dealers to see what could be found) and collectors who were missing a harder-to-find piece. About 3 years ago, Rick Mau took over the helm at R@R and has been answering emails asking where particular pieces could be found. This collector-driven service was incorporated into the official HarbourLights.com website when it was launched in August 1998.

Many, many thanks to Sean, Rick and Paul Brady (who provided the majority of leads for R@R).

This on-line database service is just getting started. A number of dealers have loaded up their inventories. As more and more dealers do so, the inventory of what's out there will grow. If you don't find the item you're looking for, check back again in a day or two.

Any questions, comments or suggestions, please post 'em here.
