John.

When I tried to download the September 2005 Legacy, all I can get is June 2005.

When I ask for it on-line, I get it, but why read an old issue?

When I ask it to load for printing, my computer just locks up.

Thanks a heap.

Looks good John!
I love all the color that can be in it because it's digital instead of print!

Sorry guys,

I still get June 2005. I even destroyed Acrobat 7.0 and reoaded it. Absolutely no difference.

Looks great! That got together fast - already has reunion stuff. That is the advantage of online - you don't have to deal with printers, postage, etc, and thus can be up-to-the-minute and timely.

Good job, whoever does it! Only one problem I spotted...on the dialup version (not sure about the other one, I wasn't going to print it, so even with broadband viewed the smaller one), the "bio" of Paul on the first interior page, below Kim's letter seems cut off. Is it just me, or does everyone see this? confused

Well Folks,

This is what I still receive. I realize that no one believes me.

June 2005

Too bad.

Bobo - when you get to that page, hit refresh or reload and you should see the cover of the September issue instead. (Red background - photo of Round Island on the cover.)

I had no trouble downloading even with dialup. I downloaded in about 4 minutes the higher end version so I could print in color.

I see starting in Dec 2005 that you will have to be a member to download it. Maybe HLs realized they were loosing money by not having people join the Society to read the Legacy.

Bob, the linked worked for me mid-afternoon, and the link you posted took me back to the current issue (red cover) page. I wonder if it is a stored/cached page issue and the refresh will fix it for you. Could it also be a cookie issue?

John,

Tried your suggestion to refresh and that didn't work either. Still manage to get June of 2005.

Even tried modifying the request line to ..."September_o5..."

And then tried ...."Sept_05...."

Nothing worked.

While holding down the shift key, click on the refresh page and if you want continue to hold the shift key down while it refreshes... that should force it to go to the internet for the new legacy...

Are you looking at it in AOL? AOL is notorious for cacheing pages...maybe that's your problem...

I had to go back and look at it a second time (and save it) after the chat was winding down last night, GreenBadger came in and said his story about him and his fiance wer in there. Needless to say, I hadn't made it to the back page yet so I went back and saw Jeff and Meg's story. Kinda gives you a personal side and puts some faces on some names for members to relate to. wink

For those having trouble getting to the September Legacy, here's a direct link:

http://www.harbourlights.com/legacy/index_9_05.htm

Since this page did not exist before the current issue, no one should have a cached version of it.

John,

Your direct link worked!! The original link doesn't. What is wrong?

I tried going into harbourlights.com, but June 05 keeps coming up.

How do I correct this? Thanks for the help.

It's a cache issue, Bob. The Home Page and the page with the 'latest issue' are updated with the new issue, but you aren't getting the updated pages, only the OLD ones. The actual page that links to the September issue is a different page. You've never loaded it before so it's not been cached.

You are probably using AOL's built-in browser instead of MSIE. If you have MSIE, once you connect to AOL, launch MSIE separately and use that as your browser instead.

Keeping pages in cache are ways that some ISP's "speed up" your connection - instead of downloading pages, they serve them up from your own hard drive if you've been there recently -- even if the page has changes on it. Makes it LOOK fast, anyway. frown .

Everyone - you should see this picture on www.HarbourLights.com home page:

if NOT try REFRESH, or RELOAD.

Well John,

It finally worked. I tried a recommendation from the Chat Room last night to hold the Shift Key and hit the Refresh button. Of course, I'd already tried that about 100 times.

But the 101st time was a charm. Whoever mentioned it last night, many thanks.

Well, I had trouble downloading the newsletter and I have broadband. The photos took way too long to download and some never came up at all. All I can say is for the amount of time it took to look through the newsletter, I could have read it twice in hard copy. I sure would rather pay for a subscription than go through that again! Time is important plus you can't carry the newsletter around and show people. I would think that is a loss of advertising for H.L. but we've been through that before! And to make matters worse I had to log back in after I viewed the thing!!
