I spent my lunch period today munching on a sandwich and chips and reading Art's travelogue. It's FANTASTIC. It's written so well it's almost like being right there. And, it's set up perfectly so that the images which are kind of secondary to the main topic open in a new window while images which are primary to the topic appear with the text.

Thank you Art for taking such detailed notes and beautiful pictures and sharing them. Thank you whomever (most likely St. John of the Internet) for a superb job of setting the page up just right.

If you haven't read it yet, take the time. You won't regret it. It's worth the time spent.

Thanks for the kind words, Lamar. Although John and I have been working on this for a while now, I didn't realize that the "Road Trip" was up and running already.

http://216.46.163.98/lighthouses/trips/art/index.htm

The text may sound familiar; it is from the Map Room Forum postings I did from the road, but it has been annotated and now includes photos, maps and links.

John and I collaborated somewhat on the features of the page, but John did all of the layout work and spent many, many hours working on this. At the same time, John was switching this website over to the new server. I don't know when he found time to eat and sleep.

Thank you, John, for your hard work and for putting up with me during this process.

I agree with Lamar. Art's travelogue is fantastic! Thanks to both Art & John for making it happen.

If you haven't yet read it, you definately owe it to yourself to do so. You won't be disappointed.

Way to go guys!

Thank you Art and John,

Thank you for giving me such a great treat and just in time for my trip to the same lights. I have been gathering info for awhile now and have the narrative from when it was on before, Art, but I will replace that copy with one of this post.

As much as I enjoyed following Art's travels the first time around, I have to agree with everyone. John has done a magnificent job of putting the travelogue, pics, links to pics and maps together! The second time on the trip is even better!

As a person who enjoys traveling and lighthousing whenever I can, I appreciate following others trips. It gives me ideas for where to go, or perhaps not go, in my travels. We will be headed for Mass., Maine and the northeast the first two weeks of July so I have noted others experiences to help make our trip as enjoyable and successful as possible.

Taking a week to catch up at work and get the kid's 4-H fair over, I tentatively plan to head back out to the Outer Banks to catch the tail end of "the move". Again, everyones travel tales will serve as a guide for my trip.

Does it get any better??

Thanks Art, John & everyone else!

Dave

Outstanding! I'm going to use this as a guide for a future road trip.

Thanks folks.

To those of you planning a similar trip: Be sure to plan for the long hike from Indian Beach to (hopefully) see & photograph Tillamook from a better vantage than I could get on my trip. Any trail blazers out there?

Not talking about basketball,
