When a search engine indexes a web site's pages, the webmaster wants his site to be 'found' on the very first 'page' that is displayed. Certainly within the first 3 pages.

The reason is obvious, most searchers will only view the first few pages before finding something that fills their need.

We used a software program and searched 17 search engines for key words "Harbour Lights" and "lighthouse", looking to see in what position we would come out in.

Of the 17 search engines, HarbourLights.com was found on 12. In 11 of the 12, we were on page 1 and in 6 of the 11, we were page 1, position 1.

Using the keyword "lighthouse", www.HarbourLights.com was found in only 4. In www.Hotbot.com was page 1, position 1.
