Just thought I'd let everyone know that purchase of the Portland Observatory does not qualify as an eligible piece for the Register and Win Contest per a reply email from HL. As this is the only piece I've purchased/expect to purchase during the Jan-March timeframe I guess I won't be winning a prize this year. frown

Thanks for sharing that info, Sue. I've never won anything in the "Register & Win Contest". As a matter of fact, I don't recall sending in any entries.

This year, I've bought every new release that has been offered. That totals three pieces. Maybe if I remember to bring the receipts to work and copy them, I might throw my hat into the ring this year. I would absolutely love to win an artists proof or be able to name a future HL.

On the LHD website: www.lighthousedepot.com

"The shingled, 65 foot octagonal Observatory is now rendered in a limited edition of 1800 resin pieces, specially crafted by Harbour Lights.

On the Harbour Lights website: www.harbourlights.com

"You receive one opportunity to win for each Harbour Light limited edition, glow, Guardian Night, Collectors Society Exclusive redemption, or Anchor Bay, item that you purchase".

Portland Obervatory is a "History Building" limited edition not a "Harbour Lights" one.

Well I made the effort and mailed in four registration cards accompanied with proof of purchase receipts.

My main desire would be to pick a future HL followed by an artists proof. I've got my fingers crossed!

If you haven't mailed your entries and receipt copies yet, better do so NOW. They are supposed to be received in El Cajon by Monday, April 7.

Congrats, Ron! I just took a peek at the results, and you came in fourth! Everyone else was tied for first, second, and third! (LOL)

This one's for BobM! If Ron came in fourth and everyone else supposedly came in first, second or third, how come I came in fifth?

Randy,

Yes, there was at leastone winner on Tuesday. He just didn't know it yet.

How do I know, you say? I'll tell you.

I got a letter today dated Tuesday that informed me that i had one a prize in the Register & Win contest- I am now the proud owner of an Artist Proof.

The letter stated that I should recieve it in June sometime. there was no indication as to which one it would be, so I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I would imagine we'll hear from the other winners- if they are on the Forums- in the next day or two.

Obviously we don't have any edge anymore when it comes to hearing news from HL. Guess we've lost our link to them in more ways than one. frown

Congrats, Dennis!

Sue, I think your right! I think we need to rethink the marketplace so that we may get the link back on HL webpage. Maybe the listings should not include prices? just a thought IMHO

I received my letter today (also dated Tuesday) saying I had won an Artist's Proof! Like Dennis, my letter says it will be shipped in June and does not say which lighthouse it is.

A nice bonus to our first anniversary weekend!

The rest of the winners will be posted on Monday. HL wants to be sure that each winner has received their notification and does not object to their name being posted.

I think Frank and Dennis were the only two Forum names I recognized.

John,
Just wondering if you know if the "non-Forum" winners received a different letter than that sent to Dennis and me? My letter said nothing about responding to HL (re my name being posted).

Frank,

I also got a letter that made no mention of name, etc being posted. I don't care, but it seems strange not to ask. It's possible they intend to only post the major winners info and so sent them a different letter, or actually called them.

Congratulations Frank and also to John (Stainz) who posted in another forum the news of his AP win. smile

When I won way back when I got a phone call from Kim, no letter. I was never asked permission for my name to be used. Of course once the piece came out my name and hometown were everywhere. Then later it also turned up on Ebay. No thugs showed up at my door unless the killer cats chased them off without my knowledge.

The following year Stephen's name was also publicized but last year's winner of the "Pick a Lighthouse" prize had no subsequent publicity at all. Just a mention of having won the prize.

Maybe HL figures if we're posting in a public forum we don't care? Many contests have some sort of stipulation that by entering you agree that your name can be published if you win.

Mombo,

I'm not complaining, mind you, but as I recall there were no rules posted for the Contest.

I may have missed them, but I went to the HL site and I can't find anything about the Register & Win Contest at all at this point.

You are right though about most contests and drawings having that type of stipulation allowing the Company to use your name, likeness, etc in the future.

It can't hurt to have Killer Cats guarding you , though.

When the deadline for entries past, the link was taken down to the information page about Register and Win.

You can still find it at: www.HarbourLights.com/register_win.htm

The reason the last year's winner of the 'choose a lighthouse...' contest didn't get much publicity here in the Forums is that he isn't a Forumite so far as I know.

I don't believe this year's winner is either. I do not recognize the name.

Hey John, ..I thought there were three prizes being given away in the Register & Win Contest: A lighthouses vacation, an artist proof of an HL, and the opportunity to pick a future HL.

Apparently, if Dennis and Frank each won an AP there was more than one of those given away. Did Harbour Lights decide to add a few more prizes?

Sorta right, Bob. Lighthouse 'research trip', opportunity to select a Harbour Lights to sculpt and FIVE APs.

The winner of the research trip is from NY, the winner of the 'sculpt my lighthouse' is from...

...Well, I'll save that for Monday.

As for asking 'permission', I misunderstood the email I got from HL. It referred to an internal permission to post the winners, not permission from the individual winners. Me bad.
