Hello all, I am the captain of the Keweenaw Star and we are looking into several different cruises next year and we would like some input into different ideas on how to improve our cruises or travel to different areas. Thanks Kraig Keweenaw Star

I certainly enjoyed the August cruise you did for WILD. Other areas that interest me would be the Apostle Islands; Huron Island and Stannard Rock.

Hi Kraig,
I was on the Star cruises around the Keweenaw and to Isle Royale earlier this month and they were outstanding. Would be interested in any other cruises that would go by other lighthouses .... Fourteen Mile Point, Stannard Rock, Granite Island, Huron Island, Ashland Breakwater, etc., A lighthousing cruise into the Apostle Islands would be great, if that could be worked out.
Are you able to cross over into Canadian waters? I suspect that would be a problem. Otherwise, there are some Canadian lights to view in the ThunderBay area.

Fourteen Mile Point, Stannard Rock, Granite Island, Huron Island, Ashland Breakwater and the Apostle Islands would be my choices also. Thanks Dan.
Also, a trip to the Canadian side would be exciting. But, as Dan said, maybe not do-able.

Just my 2 cents worth...I was on the Keweenaw Star in August with the WILD group as well. John and I took the boat ride to the Apostle Islands on the Friday after we finished with the WILD group. I can tell you the Keweenaw Star was 100% better for taking pictures. It has a complete walk-around on the bottom deck for viewing or picture taking in addition to the top deck. We were also free to move around the boat at our leisure. The boat out to the Apostle Islands has limited seating on the upper deck and that is the only place you can be to get any pictures. The bottom deck is enclosed and you are not allowed to stand or move around from where your ticket was assigned. There were quite a few frustrated people in line when they found out their tickets were not good for sitting on the upper deck. Thank goodness that we had people tell us to request the upper deck.

Hello, I have been working with my brother and I think that we would like to do a western lake superior tour maybe 2 or 3 days. We would like 14 mile pt, Ontanogon, Apostles, Two Harbors, Split Rock. I am looking to find dockage in Two Harbors for the Star, and a place to put the guests for the night. We also thought of Bayfield but there is limited places to put passengers. I will keep you all posted.

Hi Captain,
This sounds exciting. I'm sure that Suzanne would be able to generate a tremendous amount of interest. And I'll help where and when I can.
Could we make it a little earlier in the Summer? I went fishing after our trip, but only caught one bass, one waleye, a sunburn, and a sore butt.
I'd like to try a little earlier in the season next year.

Well, Robert and I have never been lighthousing in the Great Lakes area, and are looking forward to the reunion being there next year. I don't know how close it is to Mackinaw Island, but maybe a trip around reunion time would be nice for us that are in the area.

Captkraig,
We also were on the trip. We had an outstanding time!! Your crew took good care of a bunch of lighthouse wackos. Whatever you decide keep us informed. I would love to see Granite Island up close. We have a link to a webcam on Granite Island that I look at a lot. Lake Superior is a great lake to look at when I get a 5 minute break.
Also what you are suggesting for a cruise would be great. Split Rock from the water.....what a picture. The Apostle Islands going where the tour boats don't want to go.....what a picture.
Thanks,
Mary and Jeff

Keweenaw Star...a great Company to work with, and I bet Suzanne is gearing up with them to get another fabulous trip together! I can personally say that they all work well together, and I look forward to another trip that will be in the making....watch for it!

I would be very interested , to join in a tour. I've heard nothing but great reports on the tour Suzanne planned, she and her helpers just made the whole just plain "too much fun" . I missed that one , but hope not to miss the next ones

CaptKraig - I was with the WILD tour and want to say that this was one of the best lighthouse trips ever. You and the crew did a fantastic job in all departments (the narration/commentary, the time spent at each lighthouse circling to ensure everyone had ample time to photograph from all angles, the food and service with a smile, the courteous way your entire crew treated everyone).
I look forward to hearing about your future trips and plane to bring my wife MJ this time. She missed an excellent time.

I think it would be an excellent idea if we could do one of your tours, either before or after the Reunion there in 2005. I'm sure a lot of people who will be there for the reunion would love to go! I feel that as long as we're there anyway, I want to see as many lighthouses as I can.

Kay, Go to the Forum home page and click on 2005 reunion. Then scroll down to Apostle Island boat trip interest, and click on that. Suzanne is putting together another boat trip to do before the reunion. If it is something you would be interested in, please post on that thread and you will be added in as an *interested* party. Or...as I edited my post... http://www.lighthousekeepers.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=44;t=000013
