The day before Thanksgiving I was in the liquor store thinking to buy some holiday wine. While discussing various wines with the owner I happened to notice a display in the center of the store that featured a large lighthouse. I think there were bottles of something sticking out of it. Anyway I said to the owner, "Oh, you even have a lighthouse in here!"

He asked me if I was into lighthouses, explaining that his wife was and had decorated a room in their summer cottage on Lake Whateveritwas with pictures, figurines and other lighthouse stuff.

Then I said, "Oh, do you have Harbour Lights?" When he started to walk away I began to think I had said something wrong???
When I followed him I saw that he had gone back to the wine section and grabbed a bottle off the shelf to show me and what do you think it was?

Bully Hill Vineyards in Hammondsport, New York makes a dry white table wine called (you guessed it) Harbour Lights. The artistic label features a drawing of Nubble Light on the front and has a history of the light on the back.

At this point I started laughing as he had no idea that I was still speaking of the lights at Lake Whateveriswas.

So I learned about the wine and he learned about HL's!

(Yes, I bought a bottle. Now how many of you have a bottle of wine in your curio?

Great story Mombo! I wonder if anything else out there has the Harbour Lights name to it.
By the way, you didn't really say, did they spell it "Harbour" or "Harbor" Lights?

We have a bottle of wine given to us by the good folks at Nautical Works in Traverse City Michigan during a BY signing event. Bill even signed it - he enscribed it as 'The Wine of Keepers'.

Shouldn't of said nothing... now, Rod will want one. LOL!

The Bully Hill winery, makers of "Harbor Lights" wine (and some other oddly named wines like "Space Shuttle") has a nice web site:

www.BullyHill.com They do have a distributor list by state, but none in Arizona and it's not clear if they can or do ship wines. But in case they do, here's my address for those who are so inclined:

13531 E Ocotillo Road
Scottsdale, AZ 85259

For religious purposes only, of course.

Here's a picture of the "Harbor Lights" label:

There used to be a fine dining establishment here in Bay City, MI named Harbour Lights.

It is long since gone, but if I am not mistaken, they had a fire that damaged the building before it was torn down. (long before I joined the FD!)

It's amazing that you fine folks are able to come up with all this stuff.

I was in touch with Bully Hill Vineyards and we traded phone messages. They can't ship to Arizona, but can to California. You can call them toll free at 888-868-3610 to inquire yourself. I did not get a price yet.

Part of the concerted "save great posts before they sink off the deep end into oblivion" effort.
