In the above trials, you are calling an HTML page using the IMG tags. You can only use the IMG tags to open images. Try Mark's suggestion of renaming your photo as ".jpg" and change the links above.

OK. I've read the forum about the forums and followed all the instructions. Apparently, I'm doing something wrong here. I have AOL and have uploaded my picture into my ftp space. Can someone give me some pointers? Thanks!

Open you AOL FTP space and make sure the picture file is listed there. Then type the following into your post (note: i will use my screen address in place of yours in this example. I will also leave a space between the "forward slashes" that you won't or it won't work):

Remember no space between the forward slashes after http: and put your picture file name where I put "picture" above. Use your own email address where I have put "biri97".

Good luck!

Bob

I looked at your listing of files in your directory, you did not name your file as a .jpg , go back to "my FTP space" highlight the file "matagordastairs" then click utilities, then click rename file, when you rename it you will need to add .jpg to the file name so it should look like matagordastairs.jpg

this will show you your directory http://members.aol.com/beckitex

Bob, John and Mike,
THANK YOU so very much for your help. That time it worked. Uh oh...now I have a new skill that I'm going to abuse. ha ha. Any suggestions on how I can make it not so incredibly huge?

To make your image smaller, you'll need to edit the image. You'll need some sort of software to do that.

You can then RESIZE the image. You want to make the longest dimension about 500 pixels. This would be ABOUT 50% of the size it is now.

What image editing software do you have on your computer now?

Becki, Irfanview will do this for you and its free. I`ll email you the link so you can load it.Its not a full-featured editor, but it will do many things.

Thanks everyone for all your help. I've tried resizing it and we'll see if it works here. I have ArcSoft Photo 2000, which was the photo editing system that came w/ my computer. I just need to play w/ this a little more until I get the hang of it. Terry sent me the link which I've bookmarked. For anyone else who would like to use this tool as well, the site is:

Here is my attempt at the resized staircase

Also, if you can crop the picture you can clean up around the edges and also if it has the ability to rotate the image slightly you can get the picture straightened to look like the light is not leaning, then crop, then resize.

Thanks. I will work with them more in the future. Part of it is the quality of my old camera. I appreciate everyone's help. This has been really useful for me. Thanks again!!
