I know this subject has been posted before but I can't find it through a search. I would like to be able to post some digital photos. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Lorie,....Do you know how to upload and store pics to your AOL's FTP space? That's where you need to start. Once you have uploaded your picture you need to put the following in your message here at the forum to make the pic appear. For an example I will use my AOL name and a phony file name.

Basically, it's easy. Remember no spaces between any of the info you type within the first . Just keep typing it without spaces and let it wrap around by itself. I purposely have to put a couple of spaces between the forward slashes or my example would show up as a box with a red "X" in it.

If you need help in uploading to AOL's My FTP space, let me know.

Good luck and I'm looking forward to viewing your pictures!

Bob

Lorie, Here is the steps to upload your pictures,

1, type "my ftp space" in the keyword box, after that pop's up bookmark it for future use.

2, click on see my ftp space,

3, click upload, then type in a name for your file and click the dot for binary then hit continue.

4, click select file and locate your file and then click upload, after the file uploads look at the file name if it doesn't have the file type at the end of the file name like .jpg or .gif you will have to highlight ther file name and then click utilities and then click rename file and type the file name with the .jpg added to the file name.

5, After you have uploaded file you can open them by typing http://members.aol.com/yourscreenname and you will see list of your files (bookmark that too)then you can click on the file to view it then use that address to post the pictures.

I am a little stuck...I can get to the part of clicking on upload and then type in a name for the file. Once I click select file, I can't locate my file. Is there any special name to add to the file? Also, does the file have to be loaded on my hard drive or can you upload from a disc drive? Sorry for the trouble but thanks for any help.

Hi Lorie, ...You need to have access to the file on your drive. I keep all my pictures in folders in the AOL download area.
Go to Windows Explorer, then click on My Computer, then click on the + sign by Local Disk C, then look for and click on the + sign next to American Online 5.0 (or whatever version you are using), go to the download folder and click on that to reveal what you have in your AOL download. If your photo isn't there, copy it or drag it from its current location and put it in the download folder. By leaving it in the download folder you will always have access to it when you are online. It makes it really easy to upload to the FTP Space.

I am still stuck. How do I get the photo to post instead of the red "X"?

Lorie - go back to screen with the list of messages for the Forum About These Forums. You'll see a small icon beneath the logo entitled 'Forum Goodies' - there are some quick links to messages with details on how to post photos using different methods.

If you want to cut and paste the URL to your photo and leave it in a message here, I'll try to help.
