Thanks ! THought the new "flashing" Avatar was suitable for the celebration of 1000 posts We bought the lighthouse lamp in Ramona,CA (I added the flashing) and the bear is a Peter Fagan figure called Stanley .... very suitable don't you think?

I uploaded a picture of Smith Point to a place on the internet and got it to be my avatar. If I take the picture off the internet and put something else there, will my avatar disappear? (I put it as the avatar for another forum)

That's right. Take away the picture and you'll get the 'broken red-x'. Congrats on reaching WACKO status, Grandma! If you want, we can 'store' your avatar picture here at this domain.
We've enjoyed having you on the Collector Forums and look forward to more pictures and crafts featuring lighthouses.

Yes I'd like to do that. It isn't my favorite lighthouse picture, but it was one that I thought I could make square. I currently have it up on Virtual Tourist, (they call it a passport picture) and although I have the picture set at 75x75, they've made it a rectangle I think. Usually I have a picture of me and my grandchildren there. But the VT PPpicture can be expanded so you could actually see the little faces, and I didn't think that would work well here. How could I put a picture of our boat under my sig line? (Smaller of course)

John or Dave will help you tomorrow, I'm sure. I would think that you should be able to use the picture of your grandkids. It's a really nice one.

Wow! The boat is brilliant... very much like the one I learnt to sail on. Now I can't sail myself any longer, I am always happy to see other boats! Hope you get the help you need with your signature. Must keep an eye out for that, 'cause I would not mind a picture on my sig either

I think I've figured out the signature picture thing - now all I have to do is get it reduced in size
