Weasel,

(1)Get rid of the spaces.

(2)The opening command is fine, but the closing command should say [/b] (you need the slash)

And Weasel... You've got to substitute the "less than" and "greater than" angle brackets for those square parentheses. We only show the square brackets in examples because if we use the angle brackets, they get converted to the function and you can't tell how it was done!

Look for those angle brackets above the comma and period on your keyboard.

However, if all you're going to do is bold face your signature. You can preface it with [strong] and end it with [/strong] right in the body of the message. (Change square brackets to angle brackets again).

Lots of information about customizing your messages buried in the Forum About This Forum - but ya gotta dig for it.

Well maybe it didn't work But I'll try again. Thanks for the help. I just recently found this web site and I think it is a great site for anyone interested in HL. I believe John is the one I need to think for hosting this wonderful site, so thanks John, for all the information this site has provided me with.

Thanks, Weasle for your kind words...

A tip to those who need to do multiple edits of posts. For each time you edit your post, you get one of those [Edited by....] messages. On second and subsequent edits, you can go to the bottom of your message and delete all the [Edited by...] messages. Only the most recent edit will be added to the message.

Weasel, try your last one again using the square brackets instead of the angle brackets.

John, I thought that UBB code (square brackets) was enabled in the signature files, but that html (angle brackets) was not. Do I have this backward?

Man, seems as though flogging yourself would be less painless than some of these exercises! (Just kidding!) I've been looking all over my keyboard for those pointy less than, more thans, duh...

Maybe John can create a new handle for me, "Clueless".

Art - HTML is NOT enabled in the signature, but that's why you have to EDIT your message (the signature becomes part of the message and now recognizes HTML. You can use UBB code in the signature, but you can't use an IMG to bring in an image. Since you can't specify type size, colors, fonts, with UBB, you have to use HTML.

Now if you keep your HTML signature on a notepad (in your computer), you can call it up, copy it and paste it into your message when you write one, saving the editing step and making your messages look like they NEVER need to be edited!

Weasel, put the word "red" in quotations. Then it should work:

Also Weasel, remember that because this is html code and not simple UBB code, you have to edit your message for your signature to appear as you wish. (See the post by JChidester above).

Good Luck!
