To make it smaller, you need to resize it in your photo editor before you send it to Photopoint.

OK, now we see a photo of 2 Stonington. Is this a variation photo? Stonington was one of those made in Malaysia then shifted to China. If that's what we're seeing, what differences do you see?

Thanks John,
We were going to post this image on the Forum because I was curious to see if the water variation was consistent on most China, Mala. pieces. Also, there seems to be some slight changes to the towers. Paul has already E-mailed us that his two Stoningtons have the same water color differences as ours.
Thanks again guys, Mike

It seems that overall the China made pieces are darker in all colors than the Malaysian ones.

The uppermost window of piece on the right appears to have a slightly different treatment on the top part of the window. Is that a 'lintel' instead of stonework? (Somebody help with the architectural term.)

Lintel it is -- and by golly, Tim. That is a very significant thing! It means changes were made to the mold and it is a true production change (variation) and is not just a matter of slightly different coloration.

There also appears to be something different in the lantern room. There appears to be two 'knobs' on the room at the left - below the windows and only one on the piece on the right.

Kaiz - can you work us up some closeups of that second story window and the lantern room?

True. We know its not unusual for HL to rework areas around windows and doors. Worthwhile to check the rest of the two models very carefully for further differences.

Sorry guys, since this subject was now in the General forum I didn't look again in the playroom. The Stonington on the right is the Malaysian version and above the upper most window it doesn't stick out like the other windows on the lighthouse and the only difference in that stone on the China version is that it is painted a slightly darker shade. The seams (grout) are painted a lot darker on the Malaysian version, which gives each stone more of a three-dimensional look to it than the paint job on the China version. I think that is what you are seeing. The China version also is painted with a lot more of the stone shades of brown, more color but much less dark edging around each stone. It is sculpted with just one stone going across the top of the upper window but it doesn't stick out on either version of my Stonington lighthouses. All of the lower windows do stick out with a lintel, over the top of the windows, if that’s what it is called. When I get my camera back from being upgraded I will shoot a bunch of comparison pictures.

no - you're right Paul. After examining close-ups in one of the other forums, I concur. What looked like a lintel was a lintel. What looked like stone was an inconsistently painted lintel.

So at this point the score is Lintels: 2, Variations: 0.
