At least two CF Wackos were in the winner's circle. I would feel bad if the CF members were skunked.

 Bob

Bob,

I wouldn't feel too bad if the Wackos were skunked- we've done pretty good in the past.

The big winner's were from the Forums 2 out of the last 3 years. That's not too bad.

I'll let you know what I get as soon as I know.

My only complaint is that it would be nice if they spelled my name correctly- at least they left the "d" off of my last name. (Dennis Whelan)

Thanks,

Dennis

Dennis, I've seen your writing . . . . . . HL may have had trouble deciphering (tic)

Gee, too bad there aren't any FL lights left for the "name the light to produce" winner. . . .

Our John (Stainz) is on the list of winners too so we have three Wacko Winners, not bad at all!

And the winner of the "pick a lighthouse" prize is from FLORIDA??? Maybe he's got a favorite lighthouse from another state! laugh

Dennis,

I was wondering where that "D" that showed up in my name (Barnhardt) came from! wink

mombo,

I am the winner of the "pick the lighthouse for Harbour Lights to produce" contest. I have been trying to win each of the year's they have had the contest. When I finally win, they have already produced 70% of the 30 Florida Lighthouses. As a member of the Tampa Bay Harbour Lights Collectors Club, had I won previously, I would have selected Anclote Key. But since it is already done, I am soliciting ideas. The only requirement is, it has to be a lighthouse I have been to (which right now totals between 225 and 250).

I had been a participant in the chat room several years ago, but couldn't remember my login name (if it is even still valid). cool

Have you been to the Kingston-Rondout lighthouse on the Hudson River in New York? It's a beautiful light! I have been waiting years for HL to produce it.

Tom,

Kingston-Rondout is a good choice, but have you been to the West Coast by any chance?

We have a slew of people wishing for Point Bonita. There's also Point Vicente and Point Reyes and Pt Sur- all good choices.

There's always Mispillion, DE. (That might have been my choice if I was in your shoes.)

Also North Block Island, RI ; Owl's Head,ME ; Race Point and West Chop, MA and a ton of others that are mentioned in other forums.

Of course, you may find (hopefully) if you chose any of these that they would say - "No, you can't choose that one, it's already in the planning stages."

Gatortom,

Congratulations on finally winning. I'm sure that your choice, whatever it may be will do justice to the lighthouse community. So many to choose from and only one to pick. I don't envy you! I CAN'T BELIEVE I SAID THAT!!!

Another Florida Gators fan winning is great. Maybe if I have your luck I might win before I kick the bucket. How about an OLD Florida Light such as:
Northwest Passage Light or
Rebecca Shoal Light or
Dog Island Light or
Old St Joseph Bay Light or

if you prefer:
Egmont Key Light or
Mayport Light Station

The Armchair Tour Guide to U.S. Lighthouses is great for looking up all the lights.

Welcome Gatortom -- and congratulations. As you can see this group has no lack of ideas!

One of the hardest things now will be to keep your choice a secret! Mombo and Jakers can tell you we try everything to get them to tell.

P.S. Join us for the chat. You don't need a password for that. Just use your 'gatortom' name and we'll know who you are. (Or sign on as "lucky".

Welcome Tom and congratulations! We are so glad that you've joined us. I found it difficult to make a decision on what light to select when it was my turn. If your favorite light has already been made that makes the choice especially hard. I also solicited the forumites for ideas but in the end didn't pick any of those offered for consideration! Maybe there is another lighthouse in another state that holds special meaning for you, one that brings back fond memories of your visit to it? Maybe if you peruse the "Wish List" forum you might see a light listed there that sounds good.

Oh, and there's one exception to John's statement that you can't tell anyone your choice until it's almost ready to come out. You can tell past winners, lol! wink

Harbour Lights requires that I name 5 lighthouses (in order of their priority to me).

I am trying to hold them off a little bit. Three weeks from today, I am taking my first lighthouse trip to Long Island and Connecticut.

I have not been to Point Vicente or Owl's Head, but have been to most of the other lighthouses suggested.

I started out thinking my list would probably include one or more Washington State Lighthouses, but the more I think about it, the more confused I am getting.

Don't worry about getting confused, I did too. When I came up with my list I think I had 10 lights on it. You may be told that some "are in the works already" or are just not possible to do. I.E. when I asked if they could do the Three Sisters of Nauset at their original location with the Keeper's House! I thought a triple tower light would be quite unique. Kim said, "No way!" frown I didn't want one that was "in the works" as it wouldn't be really "my pick". So that list may dwindle down some. At some point you will have to pick a number 1, your first choice. If you can hold HL off until after your trip I'd do it as you might just decide one you see then is "the one".

(Maybe now Kim would go for the Three Sisters??? wink

I was thinking back when Sue won the pick your own lighthouse and chose Sister Island and even though I've never entered the "Register & Win" contest I still think I came in second and got my Whitefish Point lighthouse........ Ah the good old days!

according to Harry Hines, back in February, a CT light is supposedly in the works. You may want to investigate this to avoid conflict.

Good idea GatorTom, wait until after you visit those Long Island Lighthouses. Email me if you need any help in planning your trip cool or go to
Long Island Lighthouses for some help in finding them. There are some great lighthouses that still need to be made by Harbour Lights from this area.
