Part of our problem in not being able to ADD new Topics was server disk space. Apparently, adding a message to an existing topic didn't take as much disk space as creating a new topic.
I've increased the disk space allocated to the Forums, but I will be going through and weeding out some old threads. The easiest way to do that is to delete threads OLDER than a specific date.
If there are some threads that you long-time forum users remember that should not be deleted, use SEARCH, locate them and add a message to update the date.
Before deleting, I'll get a message and topic count for the Forum Archives. I will not delete messages until after 1/31/2000 so you have some time to save your favorite 'oldie but goodie'.

I don't know if it's just me but I can not get the marketplace to update. The post it shows for me there is on 01/10/00. I can see on the main list that there have been post added to it since but I can't get them. Everything else seems to be updating fine. Anyone else having this problem?

When I click on to today's topics, it tells me it is showing numbers 1 - 15 (15 total) but only 9 threads are actually there.

While we were running low on disk space, the date and number of message counters were incrimenting, but the actual post was not being saved.
I was also testing the 'delete message' function.
These factors may be giving false counts to the number of messages "Today" and to the indicator lights for forums which are ON, but there are not new posts.

I am having problems with the new version of the forums. I do not have 'pink' folders when new messages are posted. I was getting them when others stated they were not. Now I am without. I do have the beacon/light in the small lighthouse indicating new messages for that forum.
Also when posting this reply, I had to fill in my user name and password for the first time in many months. I will attempt to tell the forum software to remember me again.
These are not major problems, but I just thought I would let you know that there seem to be small problems here and there.
Thank you all for your hard work in maintaining this place of information and friendship.

Dr. Who ?
P.S. I just found one of my problems - I had to reset the 'remember me' button in the preferences area. And I had to reset the 'display messages from x days ago' from 1 day to 10 days. When I did all of this and continued forward to the main forum page everything was "Strange". There were no small lighthouse pictures next to the topic titles, the topic header format was different (different order of title, date/time of last post and name of last poster) than when I initally started, and the colors were different. The "Bug" is still around and poking his nose in where it does not belong.
Oh, yeah, another thing I just noticed is the time of the posted message. The time stamp says 03:28 PM and is supposed to be in ET. However my computer and all the rest of the clocks in my home say it is 06:28 PM ET. Oops?

My posted message time is three hours off, too. It says 8:25 pm on my clock here in the Northeast, but the post time puts me, oh, somewhere in California (?) Send some California weather my way, too, please. ~Dale in (cold) NY [This message has been edited by Marzipan (edited 01-14-2000).] [This message has been edited by Marzipan (edited 01-14-2000).]

I'm having the same problem as Jim a couple posts above - no pink folders to indicate topics since my last visit. They were working fine until the past few days. Is this something I can reset in my computer or is there a problem with the forum software?

Try clicking on 'Preferences' up near the top of this page. Then click on the hyperlinked text: "Click here to reset all cookies from the Forums"
Exit your browser and relaunch it. That worked for me, anyway.

Well, I tried that and it didn't make any difference. Any other suggestions?

Larry: I had the same problem until I scrolled down and then hit the button to "submit preferences" after doing the "click here" thing. Now I have pink envelopes. If all fails, just keep a calendar nearby so you know what date it is!

Thanks Mombo. That helped somewhat but not entirely. If I click on "submit preferences", I do get the pink folders. But after I exit the forums it doesn't seem to remember. The next time I visit the forums there are no pink folders until I go to Preferences and again click on "submit". Then I again get pink folders. I appreciate the help you and John are giving me - do either of you (or anyone else) have a suggestion as to what I should do next to make the pink folders stay?

How many others are having this problem? It must be something in the software.

Yellow folders here as well. I have deleted all my cookies and retried, and I have reset my preferences, all with no success in getting back the pink folders.
No problem though. I just use the "last visit" date and time and go from there.

Count me in for the "no pink folder" problem. I tried the click here for cookie...and then submit, but nothing. I have remember me checked and I still have to put my name in.
