Yes, I know lots of folks have headed out to the reunion or are already there attending the pre-reunion events but certainly there must be more than 4 or 5 of us still hanging around the forums. Have you visited a lighthouse lately? What do you think of some of the newest HL releases? Are there some lighthouses you'd like to see HL produce? Has your cat had kittens? Have you been reading the forums but haven't joined in yet?

There will also be a chat tomorrow night at 9pm but no log will be kept as all the "host" types are gone. Feel free to drop in for a bit, maybe discuss the newest program in the Legendary Lighthouses series with those present.

Hi Sue, ...I'm just getting ready to head for work. This terrorism business is keeping us quite busy.

Lorna & I will be leaving early tomorrow morning. Hopefully, we won't encounter too much traffic driving to Baltimore. We're traveling 95 south to whatever gets us over the Tappanzee Bridge, and then over to the Garden State Parkway. I figure I'll try to follow the Mapquest directions from there.

Lighthouses? I visited Nauset Light and Chatham Light roughly two weeks ago. They are both still there and looking good!

Bob,

Here's a suggestion- instead of going that way take I-84 to the NY State Thruway and then go South to the Garden State Parkway.

I-95 in western CT can become a parking lot at any time and I-287 which connects it wioth the Tappan Zee also backs up quicly and has major reconstruction going on at this time.

The Tappan Zee also is under construction. Taking the Mass Turnpike to I-84 will help avoid most of this. you avoid most of the congested areas.

Take a look at it on Mapquest. It is slightly longer in distance, but less time and agravation.

Have fun at the Reunion.

Dennis

Hi Sue

I am still here. I'm leaving Thursday morning for the reunion. It is only an hour and a half drive. Looking forward to meeting you and all the other Wackos at the Reunion.

As for lighthouses, I did a tour of most of the lights in South Carolina over labor day weekend. It was near perfect lighthousing weather all weekend. Next weekend I will finish off all of the New Jersey lights I haven't gotten a chance to visit yet.

See you in Baltimore.

I don't know...she's at the reunion!

Hoping to do some lighthousing soon. I may head down to Baltimore Harbor this weekend anyway to see the Eagle. Maybe I'll do some of the local stuff I've been putting off, Lazaretto Point (I'm thinking I may be able to see it from Fort McHenry, if I can't get onto the cement company property), Fort Carroll (seen it, never photographed it), the Craighill lights that can be seen from land. Then again, maybe not, as the weather is supposed to be lousy. They are all within about a 45 minute drive from my house. Does anyone else neglect the one's closest to home? "Oh, I can see them anytime." My wife wants to go to Southern Maryland soon to do Piney Point, Drum Point, Cove Point and Point Lookout.

Hi Bob,

I just noticed Dennis Wheland's comments about I-84 and the Thruway as an alternative route for you. His suggestion is a good one, and the Garden State also has a large number of toll booth stops with lots of congestion. It's better to go down the Thruway and then take I-287 south to the NJ Turnpike. We'll be leaving from Newburgh (where I-84 and the Thruway connect) in the morning also. If you want to form a two-car convoy, let me know here and we'll make appropriate arrangements. I was thinking about leaving around 9 AM from here, and according to "Mapquest", it's about 4 1/2 hours to the hotel not including a stop for lunch, etc.

I'm a little confused regarding which way to travel. I can be in Hartford CT in just under two hours if I travel rte 495 to the Mass Pike, then down rte 84. Hartford to Baltimore is still a long ways away. Will it actually be worth it to go the long way around? If I can get to the CT-NY line by 0800 using rte 95, will I be in good shape traffic wise?

After speaking with Bruce on the phone (BGBACCARO), I think I've got a pretty good idea which way to go. Hopefully, I'll beat the major portion of the traffic by leaving extra early. See you in Baltimore!

While not attending the reunion, I will be attending a work session at the Saginaw River Rear Range Light on Saturday. There are only 4 more work sessions left for this year. Much has been accomplished so far and I will be taking photos to put with a report in the Lighthouse Duty thread in the near future.

This reminds me of the song "Everybody Has Gone To The Moon"

Well I'm still here. It has been a few weeks since I stayed over at Selkirk Light.
Was out to Buffalo and saw Dunkirk and Buffalo Light. Couldn't get on the Coast Guard Base because of Sept 11th, but had a nice view from across the waterway. I think at least for my side, I have been watching the news on television rather than posting on the Forum. Don't get me wrong I still love lighthouses and the Forum, just seem to be caught up in all mess. Did anyone see the Legendary Lighthouse show on PBS last Wednesday? It was quite interesting I really don't know much about lighthouses in Hawaii. Sure hope I get to visit them someday. So you see there are a few of us out here.

Hello to you too Bill. I plan to be there in Nov. also. AS for not being around lately, I've just been so busy with work and everything going on I haven't had much time for the forums, but I'm back.

I can't give this away just yet, but let me say that at some of our Forum regulars who didn't realize they were at the Reunion were actually very well represented at all the events.

'nuff said for now.
