I noticed that when viewing the bulletin board in Internet Explorer, I was not able to view profiles. When using Netscape, a second window containing the profile automatically opened and I could view the information with no problem.

Polly, On my IE 3.02 when clicking on the profile it does open up a secondary window to display. It does take a few seconds though. [This message has been edited.]

On IE4.0, a second window was opened with the profile. Using Windows 95. Polly - what OS and what version of IE do you have?

I was using IE 4.0 with Windows 95 and have noticed a few flakey things. I am switching over to Netscape 4.0 because it seems more stable, at least until the next release. Always a challenge in the computer world.

My IE 4.0 is Version 4.72.2106 "Cypher Strength 40 bit supported" (Whatever that means.) You can upgrade 4.0 at http://www.microsoft.com/ie .

This is a form of encryption. An encrypted message is one that is not readable as it travels across the Internet unless you have the 'key' to de-encrypt it, or have enough computer horsepower to 'crack' the code.
Encryption using 40-bits is pretty strong, however both Netscape and Microsoft offer browser's with 128-bit encryption. This is extremely difficult to crack - it would take more computing horsepower than it would be worth to crack a message encrypted using the 128-bit alogrithm, Financial sites such as Vanguard and Fidelity mutual funds require use of a 'strong-encryption' version of IE or Netscape in order to support on-line trading, fund exchanges, etc. The Fed. Gov't sez it is illegal to export browser technology with 128-bit encryption (its actually considered munitions!)
Sites that let you purchase over the Internet using a credit card typically support some form of encryption (you'll see a small 'lock' symbol show up on your browser when you're using one. This is actually more secure than handing your credit card to the waiter who disappears for 5 minutes. [g] Its what you'll need to sell HL models electronically. Very simple to set up and use - difficult to break.
Fwiw, the current version of Netscape is 4.05 - very nice. The current version of Microsoft Internet Explorer is the version number John listed with upgrade 508.
I use both browsers. Currently I'm inclined to agree with Polly. The latest version from Netscape (4.05) has solved a lot of problems and sports a much faster Java engine than previously. Looks like they'll stay neck and neck for a while. (Particularly w/ the DOJ coming down on MS).

Thanks for the info also Tim, I recently downloaded IE 4.0 (was still using 3.02) Was not for sure what the 128 bit version meant but it sounded good so I downloaded it. Boy do I feel well encrypted this morning!
