(Thread as requested by Dave)

Any who have chatted know the software we use for it - basically the same as for several years, upgraded with updates. The point I brought up is, would it be worth it to dump the software when the payments are run-out and use one of the various free softwares?

Just an idea...with all the free options out there, is the paid software really worth it?

I already have ICQ, MSN and Yahoo Messenger. Oh and Skype too (that is how we have a US telephone number wink )
And I am happy to use any of them. What else is there?
Don't mind getting another one, provided it is free.
Still ... the times you chat, are usually ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ time for me
Any input? Could any free clients work for large numbers of chatters? Does it sound like a good idea?

There could be a lot of possibilities...from simple text chatting to audio or video chat. So much we could do...

Input?

Not trying to "mutiny" on the current software or anything, just get ideas...

I for one will tell you I won't install any additional software on my computers, especially ones designed to communicate out.

The chat room software we have been using is fairly easy to use, doesn't require that anything be installed on your local computer, and is modestly priced. Only major issue is we haven't been using it.

Would it make more sense to add a chat button to the Forums to make it easier to go into chat mode?
That might help....

Bob, don't know if there is a way to add a button to the main page, and honestly not sure if I would support that for several reasons. Most people just bookmark it, and when we do announce chats or remind folks we normally include a link.

No worries, Dave...just making a suggestion.
I have bookmarked it myself so I'm covered!
Thanks!
