My intentions for relocating the CF to a different dedicated server between Christmas and New Year's got knocked out by my nasty cold.

I've found a less expensive dedicated server provider and hope to successfully move the CF by the end of January. In that process, we may either upgrade the UBB software to the most recent version or go with a different PHP software program -- IF the one I'm looking at can successfully translate and transfer the contents of the existing posts.

I've begun exploring with a few of the Saints alternatives to help underwrite the (reduced) costs of operating the forums.

These may include accepting some advertising banners from lighthouse related businesses and/or Google Adsense lists of context sensitive links.

This passive underwriting won't mean we won't still be actively involved in raising funds for Lighthouse preservation just that most of the money we raise will go towards to charitable causes.

I'm thankful for the core group of leaders and participants on the Collector Forums and hope you'll continue to support the interests and fellowship we've created here.

We welcome others to join us and share their interests in Lighthouses.

And to a HUGE degree that is THANKS to you John and all the others who spend time engergy and no doubt patience on making CF a great place to chat, exchange info, learn about anything and generally hang out with people who love lighthouses!

That was a great way to post as you reached 10,000, John! I like the way things operate with the Infopop software and probably would like the latest version of that software. It's the same software that powers my union's BBS and it has worked well there.

I will support whatever you come up with. This is the place to be and spend many hours interacting with folks from around the country and the world.
