Can't find your post that you are referring to. I tried Windows 2000ME and removed it due to too many little problems.

I suspect that on a new machine with this OS installed, it might have been better.

I am not running Windows ME, but you might try going to Microsofts web site and downloading the critical updates package and maybe theres a update or patch that will fix your problem

Went to the MSoft website, but they refuse to help out and require that all support come from DELL who provided the system with the new machine. Dell's only "support" ( I use the term loosely) was to tell me to totally reinstall WINME.

My problem stems from me adding a few cursors to the folder, and one of them has a problem and will not give me acces to the folder without locking up the system. I know that I can correct the problem by replacing the entire folder as I have done it with one from another Win OS, but they are not totally compatible. So, all I need is a copy of CURSORS folder for WINME. IT is not locatable as a stand alone item on the install disk, so my only source is another user. DELL & Microsoft, as is most commercial support, only useful when it is easy for them!

Can't wait for the new MS XP os to come out!!!

Since I added 75 cursors to the folder I have no idea which specific one or even which ones I added, replacing the whole folder still remains the easiest method.

You're welcome. Look at the date on your files. All the ones from the initial install should have the same date. If you can remember the general time frame in which you added the problem file, erase by date.

Just trying to offer you some solutions, George. :-)

Your solution seems elementary except that opening the folder locks up the computer so I have no ability to even gain access to the contents any longer. Thanks though, for the help.

I should be clearer, George. I'm not used to explaining things enough like a good helpdesk person should.

If you boot to DOS you can access directories without going through Windows. Getting to the directory where the faulty file(s) resides, you should be able to see their dates and times. The files that came with the Windows install should have the same or close to the same date and time. The later ones may be those you added. Delete the later ones.

Another alternative is to try booting into what Windows calls 'safe mode' - you may be able to access the directory that way. Not sure - I don't have Windows 95,98,ME to experiment.

A third alternative - boot up the installation disk or CD, but don't select to proceed with the install. I don't know for sure, but am guessing the install procedure has a way to let you go to a DOS prompt. Once there, same routine as the first two ideas.

Good luck.

A big THANKS to Jim Johnson from Auburn NY for his help. The easiest solution was the best, just drop in a new copy of the folder CURSORS that he supplied.
