Were you having 'Collector Forum Withdrawal'?

I can now tell you exactly when the domain LighthouseKeepers.com was registered and for how long. June 14, 1997 for 7 years.

My now 19 year old son was 12 and in the 5th grade. Seems like so long ago.

And in those 7 years, my email address and snail mail address under which the domain was registered changed over those years so that I didn't get notices from Network Solutions that the domain registration was about to expire.

So a few days past the past-due date of June 15, 2004, domain nameservers all around the world dropped www.LighthouseKeepers.com from their list of domains.

We're back - the domain is again registered and it took about 24 hours for those world wide web nameservers to pick up this fact and again serve up these 'Collector Forums' to our members and guests. (I'm lucky the domain wasn't hi-jacked while it was out-of-registration.)

Welcome back! If you tried to email me at webmaster@lighthousekeepers.com to find out what was going on, you probably got your mail kicked back since email services disappeared when the domain name fell out of registration. Email to webmaster@harbourlights.com gets forwarded to an email address at lighthousekeepers.com so emails to that address also didn't get through.

Let's celebrate with a chat Thursday evening at www.HarbourLights.com/chat.htm BYOB.

Whew! For a minute or two I thought the CF had been hijacked and JC was taken prisoner.

Withdrawl? I would have to answer, no. I only tried to get on about 20 times yesterday.

Yes, I was having withdrawl and could not imagine why I couldn't get into the Forums! I did e-mail you last night, John, to find out what was going on and it did get bounced back to me. I tried all day to get in!!! Thanks for explaining why and thanks for coming back!!

Another case of withdrawal. I tried several time yesterday at work to log in. Finally decided it was our firewall. frown
But, when I got home and tried again with no success, panic set in.
Thanks for coming back!

I'm just glad I didn't give John a heart attack when I let him know the site had disappeared. Welcome back from hiatus.

I would have thought maybe Network Solutions would send an email to the standard webmaster@ address before they killed the name. Perhaps that was too obvious.

Heart attack? I think I had about seven. What had happened? I tried AOL 8.0 -- no good. Then AOL 9.0 -- same result. Then went into Explorer, and it worked. Of course, stupid me immediately called AOL to notify them that something was wrong. I deleted temp files and cookies and reconfigured according to their instructions -- but nothing worked.

The tried MSN 8 and that didn't work either. Went back to Explorer, and that had stopped working. Then I was wondering if Harbour Lights had gone out of business. I even tried to call Bill & Company and all I got was a "Fast Busy".

But now it's back to normal and so am I. Apparently the Forum is more important to me than I thought.

Withdrawl? Noooooooo. Just a mass panic. If a SWAT team arrives at your house, John, don't worry. wink

Lets see...in June 1997, I was getting out of the First grade. Today was my last day of eighth grade. Wow, how time flies! Half of my lifetime ago...(reminiscing moment).
