You may also want to stop by the Shore Village Museum in Rockland, ME (large collection of lighthouse apparatus to include many Fresnel lenses). While in Rockland you should walk the mile-long breakwater out to, what else, Rockland Breakwater Light, or climb the many steps up to Owls Head Light. Even though it is only twenty feet tall it stands 100 feet above the water in a very picturesque location. As mentioned by John you should see Pemaquid (Bristol, ME), Portland Head (Portland, ME), and Nubble (aka Cape Neddick) (York, ME). These three lights are among the most beautiful in the world.

Don't forget Whaleback and Fort Constitution Light which are on the way and in the Portsmouth, NH and Kittery, ME area. You will also be able to view Boon Island from the rocks at Nubble (if it is clear).

This is another great site for Maine lighthouses; as well as Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Connecticut. The link page from this site is also very thorough. New England Lighthouses: A Virtual Guide: http://web0.tiac.net/users/buster/shiningsea/menu.html -RodW
