Saturday June 2, 2001, A Lighthouse Cruise from Orient Point to the 7 East End Long Island Lighthouses to raise funds to SAVE PLUM ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE. This could be a great opportunity for a mini-WACKO gathering, or a visiting club outing. Mark it on your calendars! This type of cruise traditionally sells out by the end of February. Cruise of Long Island's East End lighthouses to raise funds for the preservation of the Plum Island lighthouse. Includes continental breakfast, catered lunch, beverages, live entertainment, historical narration, raffle, and more. Lighthouses to be seen include Orient Point, Plum Island, Little Gull Island, Race Rock, North Dumpling, Latimer Reef, Gardiner's Point (location of former lighthouse and fort), Cedar Island, Long Beach Bar. This Saturday was a spectacular day for the Cruise. Bright blue skys and calm seas made a eventful day for all those that attended.
Orient Point, Plum Island, Little Gull Island, Race Rock, North Dumpling, Latimer Reef, Gardiner's Point (location of former lighthouse and fort), Cedar Island, Long Beach Bar were viewed as well as an extra added attraction of a free lantern tour of Horton's Point after the event.
