If you are in the neighborhood, the 150th anniversary celebration at the Old Michigan City Lighthouse will be from 1PM to 4PM on Saturday August 9 at the Museum.. Jackie said they have a ceremony planned to take place using the platform that the club built as the stage. A couple of official speeches and Lee Murdock songs will take place for the official ceremony then everyone is welcome to roam the Museum and grounds as Lee will continue to entertain..

A real nice article in the local regional paper, there was even more in the hard copy we picked up at the Hotel this morning.

NWI.com

State Rep. Scott Pelath (D-Michigan City) spoke about the importance of the volunteers over the years who have done so much to save an important piece of our history, the lighthouse. He included our Hoosier Lighthousing Club along with all of the docents over the years being part of that.

Chief Petty Officer James Ellison of the Coast Guard Station in Michigan City spoke about the history of lighthouses and that they are still important even with the new technology replacing them as the main marine guidance system today.

Folk singer Lee Murdock sang several tributes to both lighthouses and their keepers..

Harriet Colfax brought back to life by local actress Sandy Gleim..

Sandy did an excellent job portraying Harriet and was very informative in her delivery of both well and little known facts about Harriet and her history.

I found another article in the local Michigan City paper, we didn't see the hard copy of it this morning..

Sounds like a terrific tribute to OMC and all the great volunteers who have done so much to preserve it!
