Our NELL club will be having their next Outing and annual meeting combined, on October 14 and 15 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. What a great place to hold an outing for lighthouse lovers, with all the lighthouses situated in Maine!! This particular Outing will concentrate on lighthouses along the Kennebec River (usually not seen on the standard tourist harbor ride) and some lights a bit further out of the coves as the boat rounds various points of land, on our 3 hour Saturday cruise. The cruise will be preceded by a tasty lunch buffet in town.

Following the cruise, there will be a dinner, featuring the evening speaker, Elaine Jones, from the Burnt Island Lighthouse and museum. The evening will culminate with the annual club meeting.

On Sunday we will drive up to Pemaquid Lighthouse for a special tour of the lighthouse museum. The Coast Guard is opening the tower especially for the club for those wishing to climb to the top. Such a climb is a rare privilege. This light is usually closed right after Columbus Day weekend, but those in charge of it have kindly agreed to open up just for our group.

The Outing is open to members and their immediate families only. If you live in or near New England, this is the club for you. We are close to reaching 100 members. Each year there are exciting lighthouse cruises, Outings, educational programs and speakers and participation in Harbour Lights signing events, and special fundraisers to raise money for lighthouse preservation efforts in New England.
