We are no longer The Houston No Name Club. We are by unanimous vote The Houston Light Keepers our logo will be the Shuttle looping around the Matagorda Light while it shines Bright. This name was chosen from a list of possible name, of which some were submitted through the forums. The Houston Light Keepers would like to thank Randy Kramer for his winning suggestion. While we are only three now (waiting to hear from the fourth) we will be expanding. Remember that in Texas everything is large. lol

Great to see that I could help! If you come up with a printed logo or patch, please post it! I'm sure we would all like to see it. Your design sounds great!

Congratulations to the Houston Light Keepers. I agree with Randy, your logo sounds great. Great to have another lighthouse organization on board. We need many more to take care of those wonderful sentinels that did so much for our maritime history.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I've been absent in the forums about this but Chuck and I have been emailing on a regular basis. He is doing a great job and has really been spearheading this for us. Hopefully, once we get going we'll be able to establish a good solid membership. I'm really passionate about the Matagorda restoration project and I'm so excited that we'll be working on that as a group now. Maybe we'll even get enough people to make Matagorda the WACKO 2003 pin. (guess we all know which light I'll be nominating).

Stephanie-if you're able to make it here for one of the meetings, I'll take you down to Bolivar to see the lighthouse.

I'm looking forward to working w/ Chuck and Mike to make this a success!

How about a logo with the Shuttle Body being Matagorda Light? Or with that being the booster rockets?

That is one of the options I want my wife to look at when she does a workup of the logo's. The thing we are faced with here is Bolivar is private, Port Isabel is really taken care of by the state and is good shape. But poor old Matagorda needs a lot of help. I'm with Becki on this being our light of focus. I think Matagorda is the one we can really make a difference on now and in the future and what better way than to have it in the center of our logo. But we will see what comes up and vote on the final product. Thanks for the input which is alway appreciated.

I think all the logo ideas are great. Chuck-I'm glad your wife is the artistic one because I can only imagine what my rendition would look like. I have some Matagorda info here that has some good photos and clip art on it. Not sure if any of it is copyrighted, but I'm sure we can talk to the people involved in the restoration project if we need some help. In fact, I'll email them tonight and keep you posted on the response. I know all the other Texas lights are in pretty good shape, but I remember reading somewhere that the Sabine Pass one is in need of repair as well. I think I have some info here somewhere for the Chamber of Commerce affiliated w/ that light.

Congratulations Chuck, Becki & Mike on taking the first steps with your new club. You all want to be sure to order your Official Wacko Name Badge so that everyone can easily identify you at your dealer events!

Good luck, and keep us all posted on your progess.

Chuck: Congratulations on forming your Houston club. You will get great satisfaction out of creating an organization that you can lead towards doing some positive and concrete things to help save your own area lighthouse as well as those in other parts of the U.S. I know that this was true for me.

I hope your group will participate in the Wacko pin project as a way to help lighthouses around the U.S. Let me know if I can give you any further help and counsel. I will look forward to seeing postings here on your club's activities.

I am 250 miles away in San Antonio so I might not be able to attend all of the meetings but I would love to join your club and participate in you project with the Matagorda Lighthouse. Let me know how I can help.

Welcome aboard Terry!

We are still working out some details. The first thing we will do is have a raffle. Then we are going to put something together for when Nancy Younger comes to town May 4th if we can get the owner to work with us. If you have an artistic streak you can take a shot at our logo and see what you can come up with. We now have 4! We are growing by leaps and bounds!

Welcome aboard, Terry! I'm glad you've decided to join us. It might be a long drive for you, but at least you get to visit the coast when you're here, right? San Antonio is beautiful...maybe we could even take a "retreat" there some weekend.

I'm glad to be on board. I have no artistic talent but I'm up for most anything else.

John,

Thanks for the idea. Neat!

Also...as a follow up. Still waiting for a reply from my contact at the Matagorda Project. I emailed her last week. If I don't hear from her soon, I will call her to follow up.
