This past October, our club had a booth at the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival. We promoted collecting Harbour Lights, our Club, and our adopted lighthouse,Pottawatomie. Our goal was to help raise money for the restoration of the Pottawatomie Lighthouse on Rock Island located at the very tip of the Door County Peninsula. With your donations to the Harbour Lights Collectors Club-Great Lakes District, you helped us raise $699.55 together with another $416.00 from the merchandise sold in the booth and at club raffles, which gave us a total of $1,115.55 to help restore the lighthouse. The check was given to Tim Sweet, the President of the Friends Of Rock Island on December 28, 1999. We will plan on being at the 5th annual Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival in Alpena, MI on October 13-16, 2000. Please stop by and see us. We will be right next to the Harbour Lights Display.

I congratulate both you and your HL club for all the effort you have put in for both raising funds and doing hands-on labor to help restore that lantern room at the Potowatamie Lighthouse. Your fund-raising and dispensing of information at Alpena should serve as a model for other HL clubs to copy at their local lighthouse festivals. Our New England HL club NELL hopes to do something similar in May of 2001 during the Cape Cod Maritime week. We would enjoy meeting any of you HL'ers who might be coming East for a vacation at that time, as all Cape Cod lighthouses are open to visit and climb during that week.
