Merry
Christmas
from the

Old Michigan City
Lighthouse

The Hoosier Lighthousing Club is having their Third Annual Christmas Lights Lighting at the Old Michigan City Lighthouse on December 6, 2003..

All are welcome to come; we will start gathering around 3pm Michigan City time, which is Central Time or 4pm Eastern..

We also are having a Club Christmas Dinner and Party after the lighting at the Galveston Steak House, 10 Commerce Square, Michigan City, IN 46360, which is only a couple of blocks from the lighthouse.. You do need to RSVP to me if you plan on coming to the dinner so we can have the restaurant set up enough places for everybody..

What a great time we all had! Seems as though almost all of northern Indiana had snow on the ground, except . . . . . . Michigan City. Guess we just had to keep the "no snow" tradition alive. We had a great big surprise when Ron & MJ Foster popped in - no one knew they were coming, they just showed up at one of the club's lunch hang-outs. They thought they were going to get to see some snow covered lights, but all the snow action was happening back at home for them.

After the lighting we moved up the road to Galveston's Steak House for dinner and Christmas gift exchange. After a rough start (they stiffed us on the private dining room we were supposed to have) we did have a great time. Susan made some lighthouse sugar cookies which were polished off as apetizers. Before dinner we had a blind draw type gift exchange which produced some fun moments (ask about Charlotte "protecting" her gift . . . .). After dinner Heather distributed Michigan City Lighthouse ornaments she had made to each attendee. June Jacques (Historical Society Executive Director) and the Society's Board President and family joined us for dinner and all, and I believe they had as much fun as the rest of us did.

After dinner the action moved back to the lounge at the Hampton Inn where we had a wonderful social gathering. During the evening we also invented a new game that will now become an integral part of club gatherings. (And we can trace the blame back to our very own 2beacons . . . ).

This morning a few of us gathered for breakfast before heading for home. All in all, I think everyone had a wonderful time. With the great group of folks we have this is pretty much the expected outcome, but I think we may have taken it to new "highs" this weekend. As someone mentioned last night, this isn't a club, it's a family. As Paul would say, "it just doesn't get any better than this!"

Glad we were finally able to attend a club event. A very special thanks to Heather for the beautiful hand painted ornaments of the Old Michigan City lighthouse. What a talented and beautiful young lady!

Merry Christmas to all!!!

Hey Dave, were you dippin' into that spiked eggnog a little early? From the looks of the group picture, Paul's having quite a time holding you up! Or was it the other way around and Pauls leaning on you ?

Paul's all worn out from trying to beat the camera's timer so he could actually be in the picture. Sometimes old age is a real bear .....
