The Northern California Harbour Lightkeepers (NCHL) held their 3rd quarter meeting September 26th at the San Jose home of Fred & Lou Kuhlman. The potluck extravaganza had excellent food and the guest of honor, Bill Younger.

Traffic in San Francisco delayed Bills arrival so Bill generously offered to forgo eating and spent his time answering (to some degree) members' questions. The hot topic of the afternoon was the new line of International lighthouses that will be sold under the name of Pharos. Release of this new line may be as early as January. While the Pharos are targeted for overseas sales, the pieces will also be available from dealers here in the US. Unlike the Harbour Lights LEs, the Pharos line will not be sent as auto ships, they will be based on dealer requests. There was also discussion that Bill may be reducing the number of signing appearances he makes at dealers. This made us appreciate his visit all the more!

Our questions kept Bill past the time allowed to safely catch his plane. However, Fred didn't get an SOS asking for the NCHL jet, so we assumed he made it to the airport on time (or close enough).

After Bill's departure we conducted our standard club meeting with plans for our 2000 officers elections and our next meeting at Pigeon Point for a special lighting ceremony. Generous donations from HL, club members and local sponsors allowed for terrific prizes to be given away in our raffle and door prizes. Purchased buttons and shirts with the club logo were distributed. Anybody visiting the greater "Bay Area" should easily be able to pick-out our club members. Just look for the NCHL Logo (as viewed in John's posting "Bill's 'Report' on No. California HL Collectors Club meeting") on our buttons or blue denim shirts.

Thanks again Bill, for taking time to meet with our club!!!

Loyally,
NCHL Members
