I'm not sure this is the right spot- since we are not a Collectors Club- but I'll put it here anyway and Dave can move it if he wants to.

Anybody going to be at this meeting on Saturday?

Esther and I will be there. Shirin has said she intends to be there.

I'm hoping Barry and Greg can make it.

Everyone is welcome to join us at the Meeting= as well as joining the NJLHS. The meeting will be followed by our Annual Christmas Social at Sea Girt Lighthouse.

Here's a link to the NJLHS site for more info about the meeting and the Society.

Hope to see some new faces there on Saturday the 4th.

Dennis

You think I'd miss a meeting at Girt? wink My grandpa's going to take me down and then work on their house (they have abeach house in Spring Lake). But I'll still be there!

Barry, hope you can make it. During the Challenge, we have had trouble trying to get toghther. Perhaps now I can finally put another face to the username. smile

Greg,

I was fairly sure you'd be there- unless something else more important was happening at the same time. laugh

I'm not sure what that would be, though.

See you on Saturday.

Dennis ... Greg

Thanks for the kind thought ...

However, working in a retail industry this time of year makes a Saturday getaway really tough... damn near impossible.

Doubly frustrating is the proximity to my home.

Be that as it may, I will endeavor to catch up and meet all at the Spring meeting. That would be somewhere between a hope and a promise.

I will be there in spirit ...

Enjoy your day at the shore ... and after the meeting, go to Pete and Elda's for the best thin crust pizza around ...guaranteed.

Barry

Had a GREAT time at the meeting! I was able to see Dennis and Shirin, as well as my "non-connected" NJLHS friends. And...I won a door prize! I bought 9 tickets, and the last number was the one that won! I got a Mark Sherman watercolour of Boca Grande as part of my HLCS stuff collection. Looks nice framed already!

At the social, I spent 30 mins.+ talking to Shirin about lighthousing, and then we went out on the beach to get some photos. I got a great new angle, climbing up on the dune behind the wall at the end of the road, and photographing the light from a beach view. It looked nice all decked out for the Holidays, too!

Had a great time overall...and I'm looking forward to March, even though it's at evil Hereford Inlet Lighthou$e.

Thanks for the report, Greg...

...we'll be watching for that photo from the new angle.

It was nice to get to talk to Shirin and Greg.

We decided to skip the social at Sea Girt since we were driving down to Atlantic City to see a Hall & Oates concert that night.

The meeting was great- except for one thing. There was a display about the Hawaiian Lighthouse Cruise next October and now Esther isn't so sure she wants to go to Korea.

I have no clue as to where I'm going next year but I'll figure it out as soon as I'm told. laugh

Dennis,

I guess that all depends upon which Korea -- North or South.

Bobo,

It would be South Korea- which is actually not far above North Korea on my personal list of places I'd like to visit.

I have to level the playing field so to speak- I've gotten my choice of vacations (like Poco shows and Lighthouse trips in the recent past) so it's Esther's turn. I'll basically go where ever she chooses to go- within reason of course.

You sure did spend a lot of time at the table with the Hawaiian cruise info Dennis. And in talking with Esther it didn't sound like she had a clear idea of which trip would to do either. Either way, you'll be going on a great trip! Hope you guys are able to make your decision without too too much trouble. smile

Shirin,

I did spend some time at the table- I wanted to get as much info as possible.

Esther's problem is she is a Mother caught between seeing her daughter in Korea or returning to Hawaii. I don't think she would have much desire to go to Korea if Beth wasn't there.

It looks like after doing some research on the specific ship the cruise is on that I'm not sure it would be a good trip- at least as far as the ship part goes.

I've got to do some more research.

Dennis,

I think that you'll find that visiting the Republic of Korea (South Korea) will turn out to be a wonderful experience. I don't know about the boat trip.

You would save money trying to go to the People's Republic of Korea (North Korea). From what I understand it could possibly turn out to be a one way trip.
