Rock Island’s POTTAWATOMIE LIGHTHOUSE is 150 Years Old!
Pottawatomie Lighthouse located in Rock Island State Park is turning 150! To mark this significant milestone, the Friends of Rock Island (FORI) and Wisconsin Lighthouse District (WILD) are hosting a Sesquicentennial Celebration on Saturday, May 17, 2008 during the 15th annual Door County Lighthouse Walk.

LIGHTHOUSE GROUNDS: The celebration starts on Rock Island at 1:00 p.m. on the Pottawatomie lighthouse grounds. There will be cake and refreshments. Washington Island musician Julian Hagen will perform and there will be commemorative lighthouse items for sale. In case of inclement weather, the afternoon ceremony will be held at the Jackson Harbor Ranger Station on Washington Island.

BANQUET on WASHINGTON ISLAND: At 5:30 p.m. the same evening, a banquet will be held at Karly’s on Washington Island. There will be dinner, lighthouse favors, and a chance to win prizes. Dinner attendees will get a Harbour Lights LLOM Pottawatomie piece. Space is limited to the first 100 people who sign up. There will be a raffle for an original Pottawatomie lighthouse painting and a handmade lighthouse quilt. There will be other lighthouse surprises for dinner attendees also. Karly’s is located at 1256 Main Road Washington Island, WI 54246 Send a check for $25 per person payable to the Friends of Rock Island to Jeanell Dailey, treasurer, 526 Clemons Avenue, Madison WI 53704 by April 15, 2008.

RAFFLE: There will be a raffle for an Audrey M. Off original lighthouse painting and a handmade lighthouse quilt by Joan Johnston. Tickets are $5 each, or $20 for five. You do not need to be present to win. To purchase tickets before the event, contact Tim Sweet email at tjsweet@charter.net.

Too bad I can't be in 3 places at the same time. This looks like a fun event.

That day we will be in NY for John's mom 80th birthday party. There is also the LI Lighthouse Challenge going on that weekend as well.

The Banquet Registration deadline has been changed to 4/30/2008, so you still have time to register for the Sesquicentennial dinner.

I received two AP Pottawatomies today to auction off at the 150th Celebration banquet on May 17th. They do look very nice! They are signed by Bill, Nancy, and Harry.
