The first event of The Houston Light Keepers was a great success and the Matagorda drawing tickets sold like hot cakes to a starving man. There was loads of fun and laughter all around and it was great meeting Nancy. She signed all of the drawing prizes that were not signed and the Keepers had a very special treat. She was 1.5 hours early and the only ones who knew were the Gift Creations people and the Keepers! I must thank the Gift Creations owner Dave and Saroj Patel for working with us on the event and allowing us an inside table at the front door. Everyone had to pass us to get to Nancy it was so . We also picked up about a half dozen new members. I will post pictures as soon as they are back. We also had a Keeper go home with the GOLD . Guess who? OK twist my arm, it was (drum roll).........ME! What a ride! First an AP, then a five lighthouse photo shoot with Gary in California and now the gold. Just think, last Oct I remarked to my daughter's boss about collectables in general "People really buy this stuff? It's only clay and other stuff." Our club also had it's first meeting and we have a number of things on our plate now that if only half come to pass we have done good. We have a Bill event in Oct. and we will kickoff our fall fund raiser for the Sabine Pass lighthouse. The Keepers wish to thank everyone for their advice in setting up our first activity. Between the Forum's and the Harbour Lights people we had a blast.

Picture's to follow.

The most fun of the day was watching Chuck's dance after his name was drawn for the gold! It is so excellent to see someone who really appreciates HL win. I'd also like to thank Chuck and Becki for the hard work that they did to get this going. I'm looking forward to our next event.

If there is anyone out there who lives in the San Antonio or Austin area who would like to join but hesitates because of the driving distance I am available for carpooling. Please email me if you are interested. This is going to be a fun group of people working for the good of lighthouses.

I have been so very MIA here for awhile. Work has been insane and my mom is down for a visit, so that's my new excuse....

Anyhow, the event was a great success. I have to agree w/ Terry that Chuck's little victory dance was classic and I wish I had a video of it to share w/ all of you.

We had quite a nice response from people who stopped by to check out our display (thanks to Chuck for setting that all up for us!). We had several people take applications with them, so we hope to see even more new members from that event.

It was great meeting Terry, and anyone wanting to carpool with her from San Antonio/Austin area will have a GREAT time travelling w/ her....just don't let her near any ice machines. hee hee

The Keepers with Nancy before the event. They are Terry, Phillis, Becki, and Momma Becki who was adopted for the day.

Chuck is taking the picture!

The first Keeper to win is Phillis!

It was a great time and we can't wait for our Bill event in Oct. Plus our trip to Matagorda in the end of August to deliever the BIG CHECK 3' x 6' should do. The way tickets are going we will have a nice chunk of change to go with it.

It is great to see the faces that go with the names that I have been reading for some time now.

Congratulations on your winnings and good luck with achieving your goals.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. You all look like you are having a wonderful time and doesn't Nancy look great!! She seems to get more spunk as time goes by.
