Getting ready for our Spring Meeting, "Connecting in Connecticut", which will include a climb up Five Mile Point (aka New Haven Harbor) lighthouse tower and a sail on the Quinnepiac past other lighthouses on Long Island Sound.

Our family picnic will be in June at the same location we have had it for the last two years, within site of Portsmouth Harbor and Whaleback lighthouses in New Hampshire. It is always a fun time with plenty of food, friends and even a climb up Portsmouth Harbour lighthouse tower. Last year Connie Small joined us for a bite to eat. Connie will be 102 this year.

We have been super busy planning the "Benefit on the Block" celebrating the 10th anniversary of the move of Southeast Light Block Island, RI. This will be August 9th, 2003. Come join the fun at the lighthouse with Bill Younger and Harry Hine and many of your lighthouse loving friends. There will be plenty of food, opportunity drawings, auctions, and special event memorabilia. School children from Block Island school system are busy creating their artwork, poetry and verse to be entered into a contest, the winners of which will be announced at the event. Available for purchase will be the most wonderful Harbour Lights ever produced, Southeast Light On the Move, which will have an event exclusive sticker on it and post card included. NELL member Frank Carbone is co-ordinator, acting on behalf of Southeast Lighthouse, for the ordering and purchase of this piece. Don't miss this chance to get this very special Harbour Lights piece and have it signed by Bill and Harry. Our featured opportunity drawing will include a "GOLD" Southeast Light On the Move as well as the chance to be the first person to stay overnight in one of two keepers suites inside of Southeast Lighthouse.

This coming Fall we will meet in Burlington, VT (near Colchester Reef lighthouse) for our annual business meeting. After the meeting we will be visiting two privately owned lighthouses for a once in a lifetime tour. The owners of Isle Lamotte and Windmill Point are will take us into their lighthouses, which are not open to the public.

Throughout the year we may see you at one or more of the Bill or Nancy in store event signings here in New England, as we always try to set up our NELL table and join in the fun with two of our favorite people.

I hope that this gives you all an idea of what your fellow lighthouse lovers are doing in New England and I welcome you all to join us.

Ron, I'm sure you and your group will really enjoy your tours of Isle La Motte and Windmill Point. Meeting Lucky and Rob is, in itself, an adventure! smile

It will be good to have you and Mary Ann with us. These lights are a perfect example of what dedicated owners are doing to help save our lighthouses. You don't usually find privately owned lighthouses that are in such excellent care.

Carol, the Fall Meeting is September 13th & 14th this year. It would be great to have you join us. It will be in VT and could be rather cool. We may need one of those beautiful quilts you make in order to keep us warm.
