After eight months,and a $490,000 makeover, Sapelo Island lighthouse is operational again. It has been 93 years since it was last in use.Public tours will begin next Saturday. Sapelo Island is about 60 miles south of Savannah. The island is located six miles off the coast of Darien, Georgia,in McItosh County. This now brings the total of operational lighthouses in Georgia to three. Ya'll come on down and see it.
