The Little Traverse Lighthouse located in Harbor Springs Michigan will open for visitors on October 2, 2004.

One day only. Information available from Harbor Springs Area Historical Society at 231-526-9771. September hours are Friday & Saturday 1-4 PM.

I believe in the past they took -- and you needed -- advance reservations.

Anybody going to this once-a-year open house? I understand that 2-3rds of the spaces are already reserved. $25 per person goes towards preservation of the lighthouse.

Maybe next year we can get them to open it up around the Reunion?

Herm & I attended the first ever Little Traverse Lighthouse viewing event last October along with other WACKOS, and enjoyed the tour and other local sightseeing and dinner afterwards, with liquid refreshments at our home to end this special day!

The Harbor Springs Historical Society did ask me if I would like to volunteer on the grounds on Harbor Point, or to be a guide a the lighthouse, this Saturday, but we will be out of town celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, and not able to attend. Looking forward to the 2005 event!

If you are going, look for the opportunity to buy the Lighthouse Sticker of Little Traverse Lighthouse.

I understand that they have sold out of tickets for the event.

Looking over Little Traverse Bay towards the Little Traverse Lighthouse, (3 miles distance) the skies are partly cloudy, 45 degrees, 12 mph winds, with beautiful whitecaps in the bay.

Temperature should be near 55 degrees, with sun setting at 7:16 pm.

A very windy, cool day, viewing the Little Traverse lighthouse, but certainly worth the adventure!

We are heading south for the weekend!
