I love to go to Rhode Island as there are many lighthouses within an hours drive of my home in that direction. I started to think about how many lights there were in Narragansett Bay and came up with 25 lighthouses in a Bay that measures about 26 miles in length. I believe that 8 or 9 are no longer there.

I didn't count Point Judith, Watch Hill, or Sakonnet Point as they are still within an hours drive but not really in the Bay area.

And of course North and Southeast BLock Island weren't counted either.

As I counted them they are as follows: Whale Rock (the furthest South), Beavertail, Castle Hill, Dutch Island, Lime Rock (Ida Lewis), Goat Island, Rose Island, Poplar Point, Conanicut, Warwick Light, Mussel Shoal, Bristol Ferry, Hog Island Shoals, Prudence Island (Sand Point), Gull Rock, Gould's Island, Nayatt Point, Bullocks Point, Conimicut, Fuller Rock, Pomham Rocks, Sabin Point (Gaspee Point), Plum Beach, Wickford Harbor and Sassafras Point (Furthest North).

I found these statistics to be rather interesting! Can some place else beat this?
