Just back a little bit ago from the Long Island Chapter USLHS' meeting at the Eatons Neck lighthouse. This was a must do trip for me since the Coast Guard usually does not let people on the site to see the light up close. So here are a couple of shots.

Nice pics, Shirin! I know what you mean about visiting Eaton's Neck. We were there a few years ago on Columbus Day weekend. It took an act of Congress to get permission to drive down that lonely rural road to get to the light. What a great location! Maybe it's the best kept secret in the USCG.

Really like the Rose of Sharon/lighthouse photo, Shirin! Our family visited Eaton's Neck a couple of years ago. I had called ahead for permission. As I recall, we had to agrre to a different day or weekend than we had been planning.

We climbed Fire Island in the morning, drove north to Eaton's Neck where we were lucky enough for a Coastguardman to let us climb the tower. It was up close and personal with the Fresnel lens. Hardly room to pull back & get a photo even with my wide angle lens. I remember that the CG guy wasn't much different in age from my college son. Then we continued on to Old Field Point. My boys thought it was too many lighthouses for one day. Mom never thinks it is enough!
