When this new edition came into my mailbox today I had no idea of the delight(and a hoot) it would bring to me.

As I was working my way thru, I came to page 12 and an article about a light in NC, Roanoke River Lighthouse. It's too sad that the original could not be moved but...the replica will serve the cause.

The title got read first and then like a good reader, I went to the left corner to begin the article. The I got the hoot part...the photo in the corner was mine.....can't remember how many years ago I sent that to LHD. But I can remember the day and how I was able to get the photo. (The color one is better than the B/W.) My lighthousing quest was in it's infancy and when I read that I couldn't get close enough to take a photo I became determined. Well, a marina owner became my target and I fanageled my way, with his two children, to take a boatride to see the lighthouse. My pay was ice cream for both of the children.

The delight came when I continued thru the LHD and came to pages26 and 27. Wayne Hawes is the leader of our HL group and a spearheader in our undertaking this as a club project. The article is a good one and we can hardly wait until Anclote looks great again. An update about the money the Alliance has. A $775,000 grant has been approved and the bulk will be given in 2002. We are in the top ten for a $250,000 matching funds monies from the park service. So, the relighting looks like a for sure.

WOW I can hardly wait to get this Months edition. A NC light and the aricle about Anclotte in the same magazine! I know when we went to Carrabelle, Wayne was a litte worried about that article. He had submited it a couple of months ago and was getting worried they had lost it or something.

Hey Weasel,

You will enjoy those two articles and the other great pieces about many lights that I have never heard of. The lighthousing community is such an interesting one.

Also featured this month is an article on lighthouses on Oneida Lake in New York! I knew there had been one at Sylvan Beach from seeing old postcards but did not realize it was still there, along with a few others. As these are practically in my back yard, you'll know where I'll be going "lighthousing" very shortly!

Did anyone else notice in the article "Five Lights of Fehmarn", only four are pictured, one twice(same picture) and mislabeled.

It certainly appears that the magazine could use a bit better proofreading! I've not gotten beyond the article on the lights on the NYS canal system yet but have noticed several errors in that article alone.

Funny I was just out to the Lighthouse Station in Bridgeport, and bought a few postcards and a picture of the Barge Canal Lighthouse. The next day I got the Lighthouse Digest in the mail, low an behold there was a story about it... Our minds are on the same wave, that's my next lighthouse outing too.
