This is NOT the Sisters Island NY light that was Mombo's choice. That light is located on the St. Lawrence. The light that has been vandalized is on Lasqueti Island BC . What's scary is that the thing may have been missing for 6 months and no one noticed? No one out there reports the light as being out, even if the small back-up is working? eh?

Yup Bill, Dave's right. There hasn't been a light or lens in "our" Sisters Island in a long time. But the pedestal's still there.

Hi folks,
Sorry for any confusion...
As my headline stated, it was in the Seaway, I never said it was in NY. I thought when the article was read, people might pick up on the reference of RCMP, Royal Canadian Mounted Police. It is known as Sisters Island or Three Sisters Island (lighthouse). It is on (Three) Sisters Island, NOT Lasqueti Island. The article states that the island is located off the NW end of Lasqueti Island. Three Sisters Island is offshore from Parksville, where the article comes from, which is located in the Ontario Province, not BC. The story did picture the modern optic that was recently there, prior to the theft.
Don't know why it took so long to come to light (sorry, had to use the pun).

Sisters Island NY is between the US and Canada. The mention of the RCMP does suggest the Canadians, eh, but nowhere in the article does it mention any kind of location other than the island name. Had to Google the island name to learn that it is in BC. None of the ads on that page mention BC, there is nothing like a masthead. If you happen to have a URL/address line displayed, part of the name is "BC". Guess this lack of attention to detail might explain why it took them 6 months to realize the lens was missing?
