The following information is condensed from a recent AP article:
The 130 year old Huron Island Lighthouse may now have a fighting chance. Listed on the Lighthouse Digest "Doomsday List", preservationists are now checking to see if the structure is sound, and what would need to be done to save it. The first priority would be to repair the leaky roof which is causing interior damage.
The recently formed Huron Island Lighthouse Preservation Association has entered into a 5 year deal with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to become the caretakers of the lighthouse.
Huron Island is a granite & mortat structure built in 1868 and has been inactive since the 60's. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope it is not too late for Huron Island.

Todd,
There is a 1/2 page story on Huron Island Light in June Lighthouse Digest. Pretty much the same info you have given. Also i picture of the Mackinaw in its new red paint breaking ice at Wisconsin Point Light.
