For a while now, I've been wondering what became of lighthouse author, F. Ross Holland, Jr. He wrote my very first lighthouse book, "Great American Lighthouses," and his writing has always intrigued me.

Unfortunately, he passed away 16 September from Alzheimer's. I would like to share his obituary in the Washington Post.

Obituary Link.

The lighthouse community has lost someone amazing...reading this obit, you'll realise why. It's quite sad to hear of his death.

Grey, when I was a younger man. I wrote a check of my hard earned money to the Statue of Liberty Restoration. Now I know that Ross was a part of that movement. The statue is also a lighthouse (inactive). Thanks for posting the info.
