What makes up the "magic number"? I just purchased Sapelo Island # 425 of 8000. Why 8000? Why 5500? Why 9500? Why 10,000? Where doe Hl get these numbers?
Any ideas.

Edition sizes seem to be based on controlling shelf-life at the manufacturing end. And mixing in some smaller-than-expected edition sizes to stir up us collectors. See previous discussions: http://216.46.163.97/forums/Forum17/HTML/000017.html

JC- Thanks.
That was a good discussion. I agree with the comments toward a number higher then 5500 but less then the 9500. This 8000 numnber looks good.

Dodad,
8,000 is a good number as far as I'm concerned. Althought 5500 is nice to have about once a year to keep things interesting.

Bob, I agree. I like to get my hands on one every once in a while where the limit it to a small number. I feel more like the "Collector" then. You think they may look in on this and do just that?

Then get your wallet in gear and reserve the Panama Canal set *right now*. Edition size? 4000. This is genuine SOBR piece. SOBR? Check the HAL thread Rgds, __ /im

I think HL has done a great job this year in keeping the collector interested by having several releases with different LE numbers. In the previous year, I was a little bored and felt no urgency in running out to buy the HL as soon as it was released. I knew it would be available longer with the higher issue number. This year, I find myself looking at each new release and getting my name on a list to make sure that I don't miss out on a smaller edition.
