Thanks for the Link, Bryan.
On a side note if you check out the side article on Jockey's Ridge and it's wondering ways, you will see a picture taken in 1979. In the background is the Church my family attended at that time.

Thanks for the link, Bryan! I also read the article about Jockey's Ridge. Very interesting! I remember seeing the sand overtaking a house the last time we were out there, and that was in 1992! It's amazing to see what it has done since then! I am hoping to make it back this year!

Thanks for the update, Bryan. Ironically, I was just working this morning on arranging a possible 2003 trip (and news fromt that area has only increased my excitement). I've always had a little thing for Bodie, since it was the closest light to the Nags Head area. I started vacationing in Nags Head back in the 80's with my parents and (after seeing that "before" picture of Jockey's Ridge) I REMEMBER that small snack shop and that old mini golf course they made reference to. It's weird to think about how much Jockey's Ridge has changed since then... (I have a quick side-question...the article on Bodie mentioned that they're investigating into finding "historically accurate paint colors"...was the Bodie Light ever painted with a different day mark? If so, what was it...and I wonder if we might see a future special HL LE with the new/old paint job...it could be a good fund-raiser for the project... )

Thanks Bryan for this info.
Now, I will have to plan a return trip so I can climb this great tower.
During my childhood, yearly visits to Nags Head always included a day climbing Jockey Ridge...my memories go back to the early 1950's...boy, what a change there has been! Derith
