There's a show on the Sundance Channel that picks two well known people from different fields and shows their likes and differences. Last week they had Dean Camen and Issabella Rossellini. web page Dean Camen is an eccentric genius who owns North Dumpling Island and LH. In the past I've only known of the 'wild' stories but this is the guy who invented the portable dialisis machine, an innovative wheelchair that can climb steps and inclines confortably, and it's spinoff the Segway.
He's also invented a generator smaller than the size of a refrigerator that runs on the methane gas from cow manure. He eletrified Bangladesh with two of them. Another neat invention is a water purifier that is smaller than a refrigrator that can be installed in all those 3rd world nation villages to purify water. He states we're so worried about building hospitals in these places when clean water would solve the majority of reasons why these people need the hospitals.
I have a whole new respect for this man, and wonder why we never hear about this stuff!
