I suppose the county could up the landowners property taxes by a significant amount to buy a piece of property to park on. . . . . There is always eminent domain. . . . .

"But there’s one other possible hurdle to clear — a group of neighbors known as the Cana Island Property Owners Association. They’ve complained about traffic problems in the area for years and have threatened to file a formal objection to the county’s plans for ownership."

My question: Does the public have access to the lighthouse now? If so then what difference would it make if the county were to take over ownership? Are they afraid the traffic might increase?

My best, smile

It is silly. The neighborhood association has been complaining for years. The lighthouse is currently open to the public and on special events, people are bused there so that there aren't so many cars. The association just keeps whining. There isn't much parking, but the causeway to Cana Island is at the end of the road, so cars parked there aren't really blocking anything.

Why is it that people are never willing to endure a little traffic in their backyard. They always seem to think the traffic should be somewhere else. Sounds like a bunch of grumps to me. :p
