It appears that the relighting of Cape Hatteras will take place over the weekend of Memorial Day in the year 2000. Even if the move is completed sooner, I imagine that the event would still be held on Memorial Day.

Elsewhere in these Forums, some have suggested getting a group of collectors together for that event - and perhaps for the week following Memorial Day.

IF YOU MIGHT GO, please sign in and indicate just how likely and how many people in your party (adults, children) and the expected length of your stay.

Here's mine: Very Likely, 2 Adults, 1 child one week Saturday before Memorial Day - Saturday after.

Sounds quite interesting to us. Likely for 2 adults. Sunday before til Thursday after.

Our first sight of Cape Hatteras, 2 or 3 years ago, was right after it was freshly painted. Absolutely beautiful!

Likely for 2 adults. Friday or Saturday before thru Tuesday after. Then maybe on to Cape Lookout.

Two adults, two kids, one week. 82% probability at 75% confidence. Subject to change after our Memorial day trip there this year.

Two adults for three days. The odds are 50-50 at this time.

Very Likely. 2 adults, 1 child, 1 Boston Terrier. Depends on when school is out. Will probably go on the Cape Henry.

2 Adults - Chances of our being there --- about 99.9% (baring anything unseen). We are going to be there. Starting the Saturday before Memorial Day for one week.

One adult - 60%probability of attending Friday through Tuesday. I just need to find someone to take care of Gator, the devil dog.
It will take me about one year to find an unsuspecting person.

Very likely we will attend, I would say a 90-100% probability at this point. There would be 2 adults and we would most likely stay about 1 week from Saturday until Saturday.
Also another tidbit of info: If you are planning on flying into the area, you can fly into Norfolk or Richmond, VA rent a car and drive to Nags Head, NC. Also Sean is correct on the accessability of this area. The drive to Cape Hatteras is on a two lane stretch of road that is sometimes blocked by sand dunes. Although they are very good about keeping the roads cleared. They have expanded the access road into Nags Head though. But hey, anything this monumental is worth the extra hassles. Do plan on making reservations now though, or you will probably not have a place to stay!!

For us it will be 2 adults, one child. Odds are pretty good as long as my husband is not out to sea at the time. In that case, I will probably just come with my son. I don't like to travel alone, but I think in this case I can make an exception.

If I can talk the rest of my family into it there will be 2 adults and 2 children joining the masses for the Lighthouse event of the new millineum.

As I read in a previous post the crowds, the traffic and all the other "glitches" are worth it considering the event.

KEEP THE FLAME!!

OOPPSS!! Would like to get there at least 2 days before and stay at least 2 days after, tour some other Carolina lights while I'm there (after the big event). Then it's down to Sunset Beach to visit the "outlaws"! (Sorry, I ment in-laws).

Likely to attend, 2 adults, probably for a week. We visited the light 2 years ago as part of a trip to the Outer Banks and Williamsburg, VA and I'd love to go back.

90% likely, 2 adults and two children. Probably just the weekend. Make reservations very early, its hard enough to get a romm on any Memorial Day much less with the relighting. Allow for plenty of driving time. Traffic onto the Outer Banks is terrible that weekend also.
