I'm making a bunch of lighthouse cross stitch ornaments and am trying to make them as accurate as possible. This sometimes has caused me to change some of the colors from those indicated in the instructions.
The next one I'm going to make is Hooper Strait which is depicted on water. The instructions call for the screwpile part to be red. Would I be correct in making it sort of brownish? From the photos I've looked at on the web the current "legs" seem to be black. Old photos of the light when it was in the water are black and white so they're no help? Maybe black is the color the screwpile portion was?

Mombo,
I think the reddish brown (aka box car red) would work. Plus it is more of a seasonal color for an ornament.
Just my opinion.

They may have been black, with the red being rust...
Maybe you could intersperse the two colours?

A reddish-brown would be accurate, Sue!

Thanks for your replies folks. Right after I posted it dawned on me to look at the Reunion Attendee version of the light, duh.... And I did decide on reddish brown!
