I think I found the perfect photograph today.

(Credit: Car and Driver, November 1992)

I just can't figure out what light it is. I know it's on the Great Lakes, because I recognise that style of light as being from that area. I know that Grand Marais (both of them) are like that, as is Charlevoix, and maybe some others. But my relative lack of GL LH knowledge stumps me (it seems the further you get from NJ, the less I know about the area's lights).

To me, it's just the perfect photo. A beautiful lighthouse (wherever it is, it's beautiful) combined with a beautiful vehicle - the ultra-rare Land Rover Defender 110 (only 500 imported to the US, though plentiful in the rest of the world).

Hopefully, one of our Great Lakes gurus can help me out. As well as anyone who knows how to get enlargements of images from Car and Driver. wink

I believe it is Charlevoix.

Thanks, Suzanne! smile

Looks like they redid the roadside over the past 14 years, too. Nice sidewalks, new breakwall, etc.

I looked up the article on the various databases that I can access from my public library's website, and none of them seem to have the complete text of the review - just a one sentence abstract. The article is called "Up in Michigan". So there must have been something they were doing up there. I'll have to see if I can pick up a copy...both for the D110 review, and to see if they mention the lighthouse!

Wow...this is an incredibly cool fusion of my two greatest passions. laugh
