I'm taking a trip to Maryland at the end of the month. Apart from the "must-see" lighthouses (Hooper Straight, 7 Foot Knoll, Drum Point, Concord), are there any others that you recommend I stop by?
Is it worth trying to get a glimpse of Thomas Point, Sharp's Island and Sandy Point Shoal even though they're out in the Bay? Anyone know of any charters that go by them?
Thanks in advance for the info. You can e-mail me at harnsbh@talkam.net if it's easier.
Bill

Mid-Atlantic Lighthouses, as well as the Pinpoint Guide to Mid-Atlantic Lighthouses by Roberts and Jones. Shows most of them. We just got back, Started at the top of the Bay and did the West Side of the Bay down to Cape Henry. Didn't get to see the ones out in the Water, Balitmore, Thomas Point, Cape Charles, Smith Point, and a few others. Photographed as many as I could. I would like to take a cruise in the bay, to see all of them.

Bill, Two links that may help http://www.cheslights.org/index.html http://www.sealight.com/optionb.htm Also a good little $6 book I picked up at Calvert Marine Museum (Drum Point) called Lighthouses of the Chesapeake. Has page on each and a map that will show you generally where they are at. Depending on when you go Chesapeake Chapter has some neat cruises. Don't forget to check out the cherry blossoms in DC (or whatever the beavers left) and Jones Point Lighthouse in Alexandria. Have a great trip. Dave

Hi Bill, I hope you have a good trip. Let me recommend a couple if you are in the Eastern shore area. First would be St. Michaels...a nice original screwpile lighthouse thats now landlocked and part of a great maritime museum in the quaint community of St. Michaels on the eastern side of Chesapeake Bay. The next would be Fenwick lighthouse which, although technically in DE, is essentially in the city limits of Ocean City MD. Have fun!
